CHAPTER FIVE
As the rain poured heavily, I shakily unlocked the door to my apartment. I had no idea how I hadn't died from hypothermia yet. Leaving the freezing of outside, I entered the newfound freezing of inside. I shivered in disappointment. My muscles were sore from how tense I was.
"How was it?" I flinched as Katherine's voice met my ears.
"You're still up?" I asked. Though it was only nine o'clock, Katherine was not a night owl. She got tired out easily, only staying up 'til midnight to Skype Mason when he was out of town. I didn't know how it was possible to go to sleep so early, but she was a natural at obtaining the difficult level of it.
"Yes, I'm still up! I was waiting forever just to hear the results!" She laughed. I smiled at this. Though I had no desire to go on any other blind dates in the future, I had to admit, she knew me very well. Either that or Derek only needed Jeziah as a friend, which would have given her slim pickings if that was the case, because he found him as completely fantastic as I did. There was no interest in another being when he was around.
I sighed and shrugged as I suppressed a smile. Smiling all the way home was difficult enough; my face was still sore. "It was actually, really great." Katherine squealed in delight.
"I knew it," she sing-songed. I gave in and smiled. "What was he like? Derek told me about him, but I've never actually met him. Now without a best friend bias, I think details are in order!" I laughed at this.
"He was...different. He was...," I tried to think of any vocabulary to describe him, but felt unable to do so. "I don't know. He was delightful in a cool, yet quirky way." She nodded me on, seeming fascinated by this. "He was...," I shook my head. "He was completely gorgeous," I said.
"Describe, describe!"
I thought back to how his eyes creased at their edges when he smiled that too large for his face smile. I thought back to his arched eyebrows that rose in intrigue. "Where do I begin?" I breathed. She squealed again. We moved to the couch, getting comfortable. I could feel the excitement of Jeziah building up inside of me.
He was absolutely wonderful.

I was replaying Bennie and The Jets on YouTube after coming home from work while cleaning my room. I had been needing to clean my room for quite some time, but finally felt I had the ability to do so then. And, in the midst of organising my bookshelf, a knock came to my door as the "B" of Bennie was stuttered out. "Come in," I shouted. The audible click of the door sounded along with a hum from Katherine.
I glanced over my shoulder as I stuck a book into the shelf. "Interesting," she said as the music played. I smiled at that. Katherine was most definitely not an Elton John listener.
"What's up," I asked.
"Mason and I are going to the movies; wanna come?" She questioned.
I contemplated, but finally declined. "No thanks. I have been needing to do a deep cleansing of this room and am finally halfway through it. If I leave now, I'll never come back." She and I laughed at that.
"Alright. We'll probably grab a bite afterward, so just text me if you need anything."
I nodded, "Okay; have fun!"
"Thanks!" She said before leaving. I sighed as I continued to organise the bookshelf.
When I had finally finished cleaning, an hour had passed. I looked at the clock that read six-fifteen. I pursed my lips before falling onto my bed. I closed my eyes, listening. I opened my window to let the cool air inside of my room. We didn't live where all the city bustled exactly, just right beside it, where the cars never really drove unless it was morning. The most noise you heard was during the morning because of this and if it wasn't then, the sound of the trains and buses following their schedules was heard. I did like hearing city life, I can remember loving it even at a young age, but it was nice to be able to listen to what everything else sounded like as well. The quiet sounds of rain, a few people making their way by, et cetera. I liked it and it wasn't so quiet that you went insane either – it was just the right amount of quiet and lively.
