Chapter Thirteen
Grey's P.O.V.
"FINE. I HATE YOU AND I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOUR STUPID FACE AGAIN. I WAS BETTER OFF NEVER KNOWING YOU!" I scream into the phone.
West gives me a look, and I throw my phone so hard it shatters into many tiny pieces. I'm so mad, and I never want to see her stupid face again. I quickly shoot up, but am stunned when I feel West grab my wrist.
I look towards her. She has a black eye, with 30 stitches across her face and a huge bandage around her head. Her hair is finally growing back, and it's looking cute.
"Who was that?" she says, looking extremely tired.
Ever since the accident, I've seemed to make more enemies, rather than friends.
"It doesn't matter." I snap, pulling my wrist away and pushing up my glasses.
I storm out of the room, not looking back.
When I get down to the kitchen, I grab the house phone. Without thinking, I dial a number and press call. I put the phone to my ear, wondering what I was doing. I can't even remember who is going to answer.
"Hello?" the person on the other line replies.
It startles me, causing me to jump a little.
"H-Hello?" I almost whisper.
"Grey?"
"Oh- um... H- Hey Harley... What's,
uh, what's going on?" I say, pushing the phone closer to my ear."Nothing. Why are you calling me?"
"Oh, I'm.... I just- I wanted to, uh, see if you wanted to hang out?"
Harley has only seen the what I guess you could call the 'cute' side of me. Not the real nerdy side. I'm shaking on the phone, trying desperately keep from snapping.
"Oh, well I'm hanging out with DC right now, so I'm busy. Sorry," she says with no emotion.
I am so mad. Am I not good enough for her? Am I second best now? I've tried holding it in, but it doesn't even seem like she cares anymore.
"Oh, okay. Well, I hope you have fun doing every guy at this school. I honestly thought you'd be different, I can't believe I was so stupid!"
"What are you---"
"I saw you with Melissa, okay? I'm not just another person that you can befriend and then leave! God, what is with you people?! First Tammy, then Devon, and now you? Thanks, Harley. Really. Did you even know about my sister you annoying pathetic little---"
"GREYSON!" West screams at me.
She is leaning on the pillar for support. I drop the phone and run to help her. When I get to her, she whispers in my ear.
"We can't trust anyone anymore. We can't let anyone in anymore. All they do is hurt us. From now it's only us."
I nod in agreement. Because she's right. Whenever we let people in, they hurt us. Nobody can hurt us if we don't let them.
There are two groups in this world: us, and everybody else.
