                    Music of hearts

Sunday evening when Leviticus has to serve at the bar. He’s exhausted at the same time enjoying what he’s doing while mixing drinks and serving beautiful ladies at the counter.

He’s currently studying while taking a part-time job to afford his expenses. He lived a life that revolves around cigars, books, guitars, and alcoholic drinks. He seems to slack off but he still managed to make a passion on his own.

“Levi, what’s up?” his co-worker and friend, Rufus asked.
“Nothing. Still, hitting on girls, eh? Take some time to study, mate.” He gave his drink and mix some more beverages.

“Too bad I’m not like you, dude. I’d rather enjoy life doing wishy-washy than to be a corpse like you. Working and studying your butt out.” Rufus stood up and drank up his glass and walked towards the dance floor

“Go and booze yourself, slacker,” he smirked and resumed what he was doing.

The loud beats stopped and the lights focused on the stage. He continued what he was doing and didn’t mind the brief silence because a band usually plays in this bar on Sundays.

“Ladies and gentleman, you may not know me but I’m here to please you with my music so grab a partner and feel the beat of love,” a voice of a girl said in the mic and the crowd cheered in chorus.

“I hope you’ll love this song so here we go.” A strum of guitar served as its starting beat and she started strumming the strings. In just the first sentence of the song, he suddenly meet the singer’s gaze and they looked intently at each other. It’s like a magnet forced them to lock their gaze while she’s singing. Levi seemed to have a problem with his chest. It’s like something is piercing it to many pieces but still jumps with joy.

As the song ended they didn’t turn their sight away from each other and for an unknown reason, there’s something in her that he can’t point out, it seems that they have known each other for so long.

He just shifted his gaze when customers came and the loud beats are playing again. He just didn’t mind what happened earlier and continue his work.

“Leviticus, come to my office, let stalwart take your place,” his manager called him while he was working

“Yes ma’am.”He fixed his polo and removed his apron for a bit. He knocked twice and proceed inside and to his surprise, he saw the girl sitting in front of his manager’s desk.

“Take a seat. Here’s Callumina and I want you to teach her how to play her guitar well because if you didn’t notice her hand sweats so much that he can’t play the guitar well.”

“So that’s why. I thought it’s something mysterious,” he whispered to himself.
“Pardon?” Callumina asked while raising her flaunted brows.

“Nothing.” He smiled.
“So Levi, what can you say?” her manager asked once again
“Of course, of course, I’ll accept the offer.”

“Alright, it’s settled then go hom–” he cut the sentence halfway
“In one condition. She’s going to live with me.”

“What? Are you insane?” Callumina asked, horrified.
“You don’t have a place to live anyway,” the manager said briefly.
“Okay, fine! But no house rules or anything I’ll still live on my own”

“Deal,” Levi said
“Go home and come back tomorrow evening. Take care of my niece, Leviticus”
“I will.”He smiled and proceed outside the room.

Callumina smacked his back when they reached their house.
“Your acting is awful”
“I’m not used to it, honey. But it seems that your uncle believed us”

“Well, he seems pleased by your performance these days.
“How’s your flight?” Levi embraced her from the back and kissed her cheek.

“Tiring, how’s my music?”
“It’s nice but hurts at the same time. It always happens to be hurtful when you play for me and I don’t know why.”

“Same goes for me when I put a lot of effort in my performance.”
“Why is that?” they both asked and laughed when they looked at each other.

“Maybe we were rhythmically enamored in the past that it sucked our souls out,” Levi said while combing her hair

“How poetic, kind sir,” she said with a fake British accent that made him chuckle. He just proceed to look at her lovingly.

"But on a serious note, no matter what happened or whatever happens, I would still be rhythmically enamored by you."And need not say more as a comforting wind surrounded them while they share a loving kiss. With their intertwined heartbeats just like how their music proves the promise of the past which they don't know but their hearts can still recall.

                          The end.
