He seemed to be in some kind of hospital room. But that didn't make sense. Master would never place him in a hospital. She said he never was sick enough to go to a one. He once broke a leg, while trying to help Lea get off a high branch she got stuck on, but even then Master called her trusted doctor to set the bone and put the leg in a cast.
What was even stranger, Roy was here. He shouldn't be in Drachma. He didn't care about Maes, Master said so, he couldn't be here. It had to be some sort of a trick. Master asked Envy to watch him and they chose to taunt him.
Then he realized there was a needle stuck in his forearm.
No. No! Please, no. Not now.
He didn't want the drugs his Master sometimes gave him. Or any of the weird fluid that made him feel itchy.
Maes reached down to remove the needle but Envy grabbed his wrist and stopped him. Would they twist his arm now? He tried to free himself but they didn't let go. He didn't want them to be here. He just wanted to be left alone, everything hurt. What was going on? Maes didn't understand.
He covered his head and weirdly enough Envy let go of his wrist letting Maes cover himself, trying to protect as much as he could. They continued pretending to be Roy, but Maes didn't believe them and only shook his head.
Please, stop. Why are you doing this?
He wanted to know what was going on. Why was he here? Where were his children? Who was taking care of them? Elicia couldn't because she-
Sob wreaked his body and soon more followed. His child was gone. Master took her. His daughter was dead and he was going to be forced to see Master using her face now. This couldn't be happening. No. His child couldn't be gone, she couldn't-
Master using his own daughter's body to grab him and kiss him and bite him... His memories ended at that. Things just stopped registering.
He cried digging his nails into his scalp. No. He was felt as if he couldn't breathe. He just wanted to die. He didn't want to live anymore. He couldn't handle it. He just couldn't.
Envy moved beside him in a mockery of concern. The worst part was he seemed so genuine, that Maes wanted to trust them.
Please, just go away. Leave me alone! Just leave me alone!
Where were his kids? Where were they?!

Roy had no idea what to do. His friend was crying in clear anguish and there seemed to be no way to calm him down. He refused to look at Roy or listen to his words. There had to be some way to get through to him.
Maes bit his own wrist. Hard.
Roy looked at it in shock before trying to stop his friend from hurting himself. He wasn't sure if he should pull at the hand or jaw.
„Hughes, stop!” he ordered before turning his head towards the door „Help! I don't know what to do! Help!”
Edward opened the door and walked in seemingly calm. He looked at Maes, brief surprise showing on his face. He crouched down, getting on Hughe's eye level.
„Hey, Hughes, it's okay,” his voice sounded more as if he was talking to a small child instead of an adult „I know it's scary. You woke up in a place you don't know, it's natural to get nervous. I'm sure you have lots of questions and we'll answer them all. You just have to stop biting your hand. Can you do it?”
