nico di angelo had never thought that he'd stoop to breaking and entering. his dad was the king of the underworld, for fucks sake, and his sister could summon precious jems in a heartbeat. yet, here he was, jiggling the door for apartment 5b.
his boyfriend, will, peaked over his shoulder and offered unhelpful commentary as he watched nico attempt to pick the lock. although he threw in a 'babe' every so often, nico could clearly see that will was mocking him. he should have brought a son of hermes.
"that's it, nico, you got this, love." will cooed, and nico resisted the urge to stab him. "it's alright, just one of the most powerful demigods ever being beaten by a two hundred year old door lock."
"it's a lot harder than it looks, okay?" nico shot back, digging the hairpin deeper into the rusted hole. "this is cassie's shitty apartment, so i can't just knock the damn door down."
"what do you even need in here, anyway?" will mused, sliding his hands around nico's shoulders and giving them a reassuring squeeze.
nico struggled with the answer. what could he say, oh, just looking for the horcrux that cassie keeps locked in here because i finally figured out a way to destroy it? also, by the way, witches and wizards are real and i've been sneaking behind your back to go to magic school!
he didn't want will involved in the world of magic. he couldn't have his boyfriend fighting in yet another war. percy, cassie, and him were the only demigods who knew about the whole other world out there, and he'd like to keep it that way.
"i have a key, if that'd help." will whispered into nico's ear, and nico froze.
"you have a what?" nico demanded, whirling around in will's grip. "why didn't you just tell me that from the first place?"
"and missed the cute little face you get when you can't figure something out? please."
"thin fucking ice, solace."
