"We'll see you guys on Thursday." Hotch states as I glance around the room — my eyes landing on the team.
They all came to visit and congratulate us on becoming Louie's foster parents — it was all Reid and Garcia's idea. Charlotte loved the gesture, and Louie did too — he kept rambling on and on about Garcia's dog earrings and the stuffed dino she bought him, making Garcia one of his favorites;
But that couldn't top what Reid had in mind for the gift he could give to Louie. He decided to take being 'Uncle Reid' to the next level — giving Louie his own, specialized credentials to get into the bureau.
I didn't see the point of why Louie would need it, especially since he's just a kid, but Reid just brushed off my confusion with a 'he'll finally feel like he belongs somewhere.'
In the end, I couldn't resist the gift — I know Reid must have gone through some trouble with Strauss to get it — but Louie surely seemed to love it, especially since he started obnoxiously screaming and giving Reid big hugs from pure excitement.
I zone back into the conversation as I watch the team begin to disperse, "Thank you guys for coming by. We appreciate everything you guys have done for us in support to this all." I state in a low gone, a small grin dancing on my lips as I speak.
Hotch nods, "Anytime, Morgan. We'll see you guys Thursday when you land." He states before heading towards the door, "Reid, Garcia, you guys coming?" He asks.
Reid nods slightly, glancing over his shoulder, "Just give us a quick minute, please? We'll be out and ready to go in a second." He states in a low tone.
Hotch nods, "A minute, no longer — we need to get going." He states in a solemn tone as Reid and Garcia nod in unison to his words.
He exits out the front door, shutting it behind him slowly so that it doesn't slam.
"So, when are you two lovebirds headed to City Hall?" Garcia asks, breaking the tension between the four of us.
Charlotte and I decided not to tell the rest of the team, just because we didn't want to make a big fuss over it. On top of that, Reid and Garcia are actually really good secret keepers. I thought they were going to spill the beans about everything, but the rest of the team is still clueless and nobody knows anything — except for us four, plus Louie.
"2:00." Charlotte states with a warm smile.
"I can't believe I'm missing this big moment for you two." Garcia whines.
Charlotte chuckles lightly, giving her a small sympathetic look, "It's okay, Garcia. The second we get this all situated, we'll be sure to have an actual wedding or something, just for you." She states in a reassuring tone as I nod in unison.
"Good, because this totally sucks." She states, emitting laughter from the four of us.
"At least we don't have to sit through a boring ceremony." Reid chimes in.
"Watch it Pretty Boy!" I exclaim in offense.
"Ah! I'm so scared! Derek lifts weights and all of a sudden forgets how to act!" He squeals in a mocking tone.
"Oh, you got jokes now, kid?" I ask as Reid just gives me a small, content smile.
He nods at my words before I charge at him, chasing him down the hall of the house. He runs into the my room — that my mom has now turned into a half play room for Louie. He grasps the toy lightsaber off the ground [which he also bought for Louie], flicking it to make it extend.
