Midnight Swim

Sokka POV-
"Let's go now"
"What?"
"To the ocean"
"Okay let's do it, quietly..."
Zuko and I tip toed through the house and ran onto the warm sand. I've never felt so alive! "Zuko wait up"
"Right here mate" Then he ran away to the shore. Gosh, he is so fun and confident what the heck. I was internally freaking out, my friend who was normally very composed is finally having some real fun so I went and joined the Fire Lord in the cool water.

We splashed around and I was no longer sweating, it was peaceful yet chaotic. It had always been like that we Zuko we had so much fun together but tonight was different it was like we brothers... no lov... wait what the actual heck no ... best friends!

Zuko and I sat in the shallow water and chatted about god knows what but it didn't matter I was with him and I felt safe.

We lay down and fell asleep in the sand.

I woke up startled by the fact I wasn't in my bed. I realised I was in Zukos arms. We had been cuddling!?! Usually I would've felt weird about that but it felt so right. So I went back so sleep.
When I woke up for a second time Zuko was building a small sand castle, I looked at his tan muscular body. Wearing those red pants I've always wanted to borrow... ugh why am I looking at him like that?

I got up and pulled myself together and walked over to Zuko.
"Hey, Zuko I can't believe we slept out here!"
"Right!! It was nice though"
"Yeah" I said blushing as red as fire flakes
We headed back inside it was still early so we went back to our rooms.

That was amazing I felt like my connection to Zuko was growing stronger and it felt so natural.

I decided I was feeling generous so I went down the corridor to cook everyone breakfast only to find Zuko making something himself.
"Hey what are you cooking ?"
"Pancakes, do you want to taste the batter"
"Hell yes!.... yum that's delicious Zuko where did you get that recipe?"
"I used to watch my mother attempt to teach Azula how to cook, and I wrote as much as I could down"
"Azula could cook??!"
"No she would just burn everything haha"
"Hahaha"

Zukos laugh was priceless, his golden smile, I just can't get enough of it..

Why, I am not sure but I will have to figure that out...

Later in the day I went to chat to Toph because Zuko and Aang were working on some Fire and Earth nation stuff I didn't really care to much about it though so I decided to go do something else.

I opened Tophs door and found her lying on her bed facing the ceiling she looked sad.
"Hey Toph you good?"
"Hey Sokka" she said I'm a neutral tone, she hadn't even used a nickname yet, something was going on.

"You good Toph? you look upset, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine"
"Okay well if there is anything you need feel free to talk to me"
"Thanks"
"I'll be in my room"
"Right okay"
I left Tophs room and went to mine which was agacent to hers. I heard her sobbing tremendously and bending small rocks at the wall.
I was so worried about her, I didn't seem right but I had to find out what was going on.

I came up with a flawless plan, I clambered our my window along the window sill and came to her room. The windows sills were wooden so she wouldn't be able to feel it with her feet.
I listened and watch her torment herself.
"Toph you are better than this" she said hitting herself.
"Why can't you teach them, you are the most powerful earth bender in the world and you can't teach a few kids to bend some metal"
She formed a long pole of earth and just let it hit her in the face.

I couldn't watch this I dived through the window and hugged her.
" Toph... I am sorry I was listening to you ... you are not okay"
"Nooo Sokka I am not, I am stupid and dumb"
"Don't say that Toph you are the most resilient person I know" I said still hugging her
"Really" her voice lighten
"Yes"
"Thanks Sokka" she stuttered hugging back.
Then at that moment Zuko walked through the door "Sokka phew you're in here, wanna practice swords?"

"Sure!"
