January 4th
Amara sat alone in her room staring at the slip of paper Hermione had provided her the day before, her head still spinning with questions Draco had refused to answer. He hadn't even spoken to her since the incident in The Leaky Cauldron, leaving her to figure out the enchantment and pack the things he had dropped in her room early this morning.
She didn't even know when Draco planned on leaving; that was something he also refused to tell her, which made her blood boil. He sat three seats away from her at breakfast and left before she even had the chance to confront him. His eyes darted from hers when they happened to meet and his shoulders had tended once more.
It was almost like something changed in him over night. A switch had flipped and he now sat in silence, ignoring Amara's existence.
The small bag she had attempted to enchant several times laid on the cold floor at the foot of her bed. She had tossed it after the tenth attempt and slammed her wand down on the soft mattress. Every once and a while her eyes gazed at the door in hopes Draco would open it and speak to her. But every time she looked away in disappointment.
Amara sighed and pushed herself up, her bare feet meeting the cold, stone floor sending shivers down her spine. Her feet carried her over to the extravagant dresser and she began to grab handfuls of clothes, praying that gathering the things she could would take her mind off of the blond haired boy she so desperately wanted to speak with. She threw the clothes on her bed and huffed loudly with every toss.
After ten minutes of throwing clothes to her bed, a knock sounded on her door. Her head snapped in the direction of the sound and her eyes widened. Her hand slid to the front of the drawer and slowly closed it before walking toward the door. Her mind curated thousands of scenarios that could take place. If Lucius had found her packing, it'd be over before she could even blink. But if it was the exact person she had been wanting to see, it could go in several better directions.
Her hand met the doorknob and she slowly turned it, peering out through the small crack. Nerves shot through her body and she felt herself tense as the light caught a flash of platinum blond hair. Her first thought was Lucius found out and had come to punish her and her family. But when the person spoke, a wave of relief flooded her completely.
"Blackwood? I know you're awake, open the door." Draco's voice was soft and soothing. His hand rested on the door and his eyes had dropped to the ground below his feet."Blackwood." He leaned closer to the door, his voice quieter and softer, breaking through every thought in Amara's mind.
She pulled the door open, allowing him to enter slowly. He held a large bag in his hand, his eyes meeting Amara's."We're leaving tonight. I have the stuff we purchased in this bag." He said sternly, lifting the black bag in the air.
"Now? Isn't it too soon?" Amara forced out as he paced the room, eyes on the floor.
"No. It's time now. If they realize we now get along better they will push the wedding forward." He crossed his arms and stared at her. "Are you packed and ready?"
His body language seemed to loosen, though his face remained stern and his eyes narrowed in Amara's."No. I can't get the fucking enchantment to work so.." Her voice trailed off and her gaze left his.
"Give me the damn bag then." Draco snapped, extending his arm out. Amara let out a huff, lifting the bag up and giving him an eye roll.
"Don't act like you're the all wise one, Malfoy." She spat.
The bag was shoved into his arms as Amara dropped herself onto her bed. She stared up at him as he pulled his wand out of his pocket. His eyes never left hers as he performed the charm and began dropping things sitting on the chair next to him inside. Amara took a sharp breath in, straightening her back."What's wrong, Blackwood?"
He bent down to get on eye level with her, his breath fanning on her face as he whispered to her. His hands fell on the bed on either side of her legs; a smirk played on his lips as he watched her panic in his gaze."Is something wrong?" Amara swallowed thickly and stared at him, unable to speak. She felt herself begin to get lost in his gaze, losing focus completely. Her hands met his shoulders instantly and she pushed him off of her, standing hastily.
Amara snatched the bag out of his hands and dropped her clothes and various items inside, avoiding any eye contact with Draco.Everything she had set out for when word reached her that they would leave was shoved inside the now very deep bag.
She tightened the opening and turned to him quickly. "Let's go." Draco nodded at her, throwing spare blankets onto the bed to create a swift illusion to fool Narcissa in the morning. The two pushed open the large window and stared out of it for a moment, thinking of every possible possibility.
"You go first, I'll follow you." Draco's voice had softened now and his body wasn't as tense as he watched Amara.
Amara swung her legs over the edge, dropping down to the ground quickly and turning to watch Draco as he did the same. Once both of them were on the ground, Draco pulled out a small map and began walking at a quick pace. The windows of the Manor were dark. No one was awake at this hour; but one small noise could reveal their whole plan and ruin everything they've planned thus far. Silence carried them through the night, neither person daring to speak a single word in fear of waking Lucius Malfoy and fucking up their lives for good.

Hours passed and Amara began to find it hard to move her body. Her eyelids felt like they weighed a ton and her legs ached horribly. Draco was suppressing his struggles, walking as fast as he could, in hopes to find a camp a safe distance from the Manor.
The sun had risen and Narcissa would have already checked in on Amara's room. Draco knew they needed to travel fast in order to be safely away from his family before breakfast. So he kept going, occasionally checking over his shoulder to make sure Amara was still following him and not lost somewhere in the woods.
"Draco, can we stop? I can't walk any further." Amara breathed out. He turned to her, finally catching sight of her tired face. She hadn't been sleeping well, he knew that, but the effect it had shook him and worried him; even when he tried not to worry. After a long pause, Draco sighed and set down the bag he carried.
"Yes, I guess it's fine to stop now." He pulled out a bundle of fabric and tossed it to the ground, mumbling an enchantment over it.
The small bundle became a tent equipped with mattresses and blankets to sleep on and enough food for weeks.
"Go in. I'll watch." Draco's hand brushed on Amara's arm as he motioned her inside, secretly praying she'd sleep. Amara obeyed and made her way to a bed, her head hitting the soft surface below her.Her mind trailed off and noise around her began to disappear, leaving her completely in peace and silence.
