(Seriously, if you wanna keep Martin and Kyle pure in your thoughts, I suggest you do that.)

Kat's Social Impact class was more interesting than Int Dev. I appreciated quants, thanks to my debacle with math, econ, and stat. That Friday afternoon, she was teaching us about evaluation of development projects. It was just December but I was already halfway through my filler notebook, the result of furious note-taking and advance reading.

It turned out that having no boy to distract me was a good thing.

Okay, that was a load of b.s. I missed Martin every day in UP. The heft in my chest was always there. But there were also "I miss you, Kyle Stephen" texts in the middle of the day. There was a visit in my org tambayan after he was done with clearance. Followed by a tight hug that had everyone exchanging looks (his fault). Then, uhm, making out in my car (my fault).

Things were better, even if the thought of him leaving still left me zoning out.

"Hello, may I sit in?"  Everyone turned to look at the doorway.

I blinked. It was Martin, in a black polo shirt, jeans, and his well-worn Chucks. With one hand in his pocket, he gave Kat a friendly smile and a small wave. I saw my classmates exchange curious looks.

Kat smiled back at him. "Sure," she said, motioning him inside with a head nod.

Martin made his way to the back of the class and sat beside me. I kept my eyes on my notebook, afraid that my expression would give me away.

"Oh, but please introduce yourself first," Kat announced, playing coy.

"Hi, I'm Martin," he said in that booming baritone, flashing everyone his dimples. "I took Professor Ferrer's Int Dev class last sem."

"Aaaand what keeps you busy now, Martin?" Kat asked, baiting him into an answer.

"Nothing," Martin replied, shaking his head with an innocent smile. "I'm a UP dropout."

I couldn't help snorting at everyone's confused reaction. Martin—and a few people—gave me a side eye. I felt my face heat up and I lowered my head even closer to my notebook.

After rolling her eyes, Kat continued with her lecture on project evaluation.

"You are so full of shit," I muttered under my breath.

Martin turned to look at me and tried to meet my gaze. When I finally glanced at him, he winked at me and stuck out his tongue. My heart felt like it was doing somersaults in my chest.

Martin sitting beside me felt like the first days of Int Dev again. I could tell that he was taking the lecture to heart, chin perched on his palm. Meanwhile, I was the lovestruck idiot again noticing his every move. The way he tapped his fingers on his cheek. Or how he nodded at the formula being written on the board, like he absorbed it in one look. The soft "mmm" as he understood what Kat meant.

"Take down notes," Martin whispered, stifling a smile. I was—for the better part of the lecture—stealing glances at him.

"Fuck you, Perez," I mumbled.

"Later if you're lucky," he drawled, his face scrunched in concentration.

Okay, I've had a few dampish imaginings of Martin... doing uh, various activities with me... behind a locked door. So, yeah. That one was... mmm, yeah, okay.

Martin noticed my idiotic space brain reaction. His eyes widened, surprised at the effect of his words on me.

I heard Kat dismiss us. Thanks to Martin, it was the first class that sem where my notebook page was filled with nonsense phrases and squiggly, unintelligible lines. Fucker.
