Y/N groaned in pain as her back hit the cold stone floor, barely dodging the next jab of a knife as she rolled onto her front.

Her opponent gave a smug grin as she looked up at him, though her hard expression didn't crack, spitting blood out onto the floor. She was sure going to ache after this.

"I thought you were supposed to be a great fighter?" He asked patronisingly, still staring down at her, not moving.

"Oh you'll see." She spat, finding a new urge to continue. If she was going to go down, she was going to go down defeating him. Proving him wrong.

Before she could even climb to her feet, her opponent was knocked to the ground next to her with force. Y/N let out a small squeal of shock as she watched the man land next to her, though he was back on his feet in a flash, running toward the dark figure that had knocked him down.

It wasn't until the pair moved into the lamp light that she finally saw his face.

Bucky Barnes. Y/N watched him fight her opponent in slight disbelief. This was Bucky Barnes. Her sworn enemy, and he had come and basically saved her.

Bucky and Y/N had a rough relationship. Wanting to kill each other most of the time, the other wanting to tear each other's clothes off.

"You dare touch her again." Bucky growled, holding his knife to the man "you'll wish you were never born." He then pushed the man backward, knocking him over.

Bucky watched the man scramble back to his feet then run away, before grabbing his discarded knife and pocketing it, then finally turning to look at Y/N "you're an idiot Y/L/N, you should've called for back up. You're lucky I came."

"I had it handled." Was her disgruntled reply, giving another groan of pain as she sat up.

He stepped toward her, held out his hand for her to take, and reluctantly she took it "why did you help me Barnes?" Y/N asked, her voice full of confusion as she eyed him. His eyes stared back, eyes which she was usual seeing as cold and harsh toward her. Today they were far from, but almost as soon as she noticed, it was gone.

He leant in close, still holding onto her "the only way you're dying is by my hand, love." He muttered, his voice full of spite. And as he pulled away, Y/N could still feel the heat where his lips had ghosted her cheek, as if they were leaving a searing mark.

She lifted her hand up to her cheek as he watched him walk off into the darkness

They were supposed to be enemies, and they were. Weren't they?
