A/N: I couldn't think of a title for this chapter cause 'jealousy' seemed too generic so.
This chapter is with 40s! Bucky, you're bestfriends with him and Steve but don't realise you like Bucky until he gets a girlfriend.
This is also kind of a mess because I went in a different direction than I originally intended but I kinda love it. Also Y/N/N stands for your nickname! also I could write a part two of this, dunno! Hope yall enjoy! Mwah!
Word count - 849Y/N was sat next to her bestfriend Steve, in art class scribbling violently in her sketchbook, she wasn't particularly concentrated so was unaware that she was doing so.
Steve noticed though. He also noticed that she kept stealing glances across the classroom at their other bestfriend Bucky who was sat with his new girlfriend. They were sat a few rows ahead of them, laughing and drawing together and he had his arm around her shoulders, they looked happy. Steve didn't mind that Bucky wasn't sat with them today, he looked happy. Apparently Y/N minded, even if she didn't subconsciously know so.
Steve let out a small awkward laugh "Uh- Y/N are you alright?"
This snapped Y/N out of her daydream, she stole one more glance in Bucky's direction before turning to Steve and nodding "yeah?"
"I think your page and charcoal says otherwise" Steve gave another laugh and Y/N turned to look at her page and her eyes widened, the paper, alongside her hands were completely covered in charcoal, and the stick that she once was drawing with was now just a lump.
"Sorry my brain is really not here today." She explained, rubbing her hands in an attempt to get the charcoal off slightly.
"Is it... a few desks ahead of us." Steve motioned toward where Bucky and his girlfriend were, Y/N pulled a face, knowing what Steve meant, she may have been oblivious but she wasn't stupid.
She was about to say something in response but was interrupted by the bell indicating the end of the day, which made Steve jump, as it did every single day, causing Y/N to burst into a fit of laugher at the boy.
Before they could go back to what they were previously talking about, the pair were interrupted by Bucky and his girlfriend who came over to their table.
"Hey Stevie! Hey Y/N/N!" Bucky spoke cheerily, Steve greeted the two but Y/N just shot Bucky a small smile before looking away. She couldn't bare to continue watching the way Bucky and his girlfriend held each other, the way they looked at each other, the way they laughed together. It made her want to puke.
Though Y/N did notice how Bucky's girlfriend kept shooting quick glances in her direction. Spiteful glances that made Y/N feel a mixture of annoyed and slightly insecure. Especially when she noticed her glance at the page Y/N had previously been scribbling on, causing Y/N to snatch it away in embarrassment.

After class was over, Steve walked Y/N home, an act that Bucky previously did everyday, but had stopped since getting a girlfriend, as he walked home with her instead and she lived in the opposite direction.
Y/N wasn't too mad, there were worse people to walk her home than Steve, she loved him, he was like her brother. But he just wasn't Bucky.
For the most part, they were walking in a comfortable silence. Y/N walking on the edge of the path, Steve spoke up from the side of her
"Hey Y/N are you... jealous of Bucky's girlfriend?"She was slightly taken aback that Steve would think this, why would she be jealous?
"What makes you think that?" She shot back, looking over at Steve with a confused expression painted over her features.
Steve gave a small sigh, for such a smart girl, she could be quite dumb. "Just.. you know, you seem funny with her- but like it's totally okay for you to be, you and Bucky are like really close too.. so with how you were acting today, I just thought-"
Y/N was lost in thought, losing focus on the end of Steve's small speech. She hadn't thought of it this way before, but Steve got her thinking. Before now, all she thought of Bucky as was a bestfriend, but was that true? Maybe there were times when she imagined what it would be like to be more.
To be wrapped in his arms, times when the embraces would last just a little longer than embraces shared between friends.
To steal knowing glances at each other. Glances that screamed a million things that words weren't enough to express.
To be loved.
Maybe she did, maybe she needed this as an awakening. Maybe it was what she wanted, what she was missing. That gap in your life that you just aren't quite sure how to fill, maybe she had found it.
She wanted to be loved. Not only to be loved, but loved by him.
Loved by Bucky Barnes.
