Alli's P.O.V.

Shawn and I wait until the attendant announces that the flight will be boarding to say our good byes. He shares a long hug with his mother before coming over to me. His strong arms wrap around me and pull me into a hug.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." I whisper into his chest.

"I'm gonna miss you too."

I feel a tear silently roll down my cheek. I try to blink the others that are forming away, but with no luck.

"Don't cry. Because then I'm gonna cry."

"Two months is the longest we've ever gone without seeing each other."

"I know."

The flight attendant announces the last call for Shawn's flight and we both pull away with sad expressions. Even though Mrs. Mendes is right there, he pulls me into a short yet passionate kiss.

"I love you Alli."

"I love you too, Shawn. Don't fall in love with anyone while you're away."

He chuckles. "I won't."

"Promise?" I smile.

"Promise."

"Bye, Alli."

"Bye."

He walks up the ramp and gives me one last wave before he disappears onto the plane.

Three weeks later, I sit on a bench in the park with Mickey. We're watching Jack and Jack's YouTube video of them playing basketball in Orlando. I bite my lip as a shirtless Shawn comes on the screen. And there goes my pulse.

When the video is over, Mickey turns her phone off.

"Dude. How in god's name did we get here?"

I give Mickey a questioning look. "What do you mean?"

"Within a couple months, we met 13 super hot guys and a super gorgeous girl. They're now famous, and they consider us some of their best friends. Like wow."

"Wow." I reply coming to terms with our reality. "Damn, we're lucky."

"We are."

I grab Mickey's hand and pull her off the bench. We both begin to walk towards my house, talking about everything under the sun. I stop when we reach my quiet street.

"Mickey, will you give me 5 bucks if I do a round off back handspring and stick the landing in the middle of the street?"

"Well that was random, but sure. Go."

I quickly run out into the street and do my tricks. After I stick the landing, Mickey gives me a round of applause. I giggle, then start to make my way out of the street.

"Alli! Watch out!"

Mickey's words are the last I hear before the world goes black.

Shawn's P.O.V.

Was there any news with Alli? Nope. Besides the fact that she turned 16 when she was in a coma, nothing. I came back from Magcon 4 weeks ago. I've seen her everyday since she's woken up, and today is day 5. I knock on the door of her hospital room.

"Come in." I hear a small voice say.

I walk in and Alli's face lights up with a smile.

"Hi, um, Shawn, right?"

"Yeah. Hi Allison."

"What're you doing here?"

"I just came in to say hi."

"Ooh, do you have another story for me."

"Actually, yes. I do. But this one isn't funny like the other ones."

"Okay. Well sit down and let me hear it."

I smile and take a seat in a chair next to her bed.

"So, a while ago, I had a girlfriend. She was my best friend ever since I was 4. And I, holy crap, I love her so much. She was just amazing. Her smile would light up a room and her laugh was contagious."

"What was her name?"

"Ummm... Alicia, but I called her Alli."

"That's like my name!"

I chuckle. "Yeah. Just like your name. But I went away, and I left her for a couple of months. And when I came back, she was in the hospital. She had gotten hit by a car. It broke my heart to see her in a coma, so helpless. But when she woke up, I was ecstatic. That is, until she completely forgot who I was."

"That's so sad." Alli interjects.

"Mhm. But, I had a personal mission to see her everyday, and sit with her until she remembers. So far, there's little success. The doctors say her memory loss might be permanent. So, I'm wondering if I should just give up."

"Shawn, do you still love this girl."

"More than anything."

"Then don't give up. If you really love her like you say you do, then you have to fight for her. You guys have a history, and one tiny car accident shouldn't be the end of that. I wish that I had someone like you to fight for me."

"I know for a fact you do."

"I don't. You know how I know?"

"How?"

"He hasn't been here for me when I really need him."

"Maybe he has, and you just don't know it."

"I seriously doubt it."

"Look, I have to go. But is it okay if I come back tomorrow?"

"Yeah of course."

"Can I ask you one last question?"

"Yeah."

"Are you remembering anything, or feeling anything from our little talks?"

"Remembering, no. Feeling, a little."

"Good. I'll be back soon."

"Great. I really enjoy your company! I think we could be great friends."

"Promise?"

She gives me a questioning look. "Yeah. Definitely."

And with that, my heart broke into a million pieces. All of our promises, are gone.
