Best Friends? Or Something More? (S.M.)

Chapter 9

Alli's P.O.V.

"Guys calm down," Shawn says.

"Why didn't you tell us you were dating?" Mahogany comes over and hugs me.

I giggle. "We were just waiting for the right time."

When all of the guys' faces fall, I wonder why. It can't be disappointment, or anger. We've only known each other for a few days! Even still, For the very short while we've been here, it's been like a family. But, I don't know. This whole thing has been kinda confusing. First the guys talking to Shawn about me, then all the guys wanting to know what's going on between us. This is all so odd.

"Hey Johnson, can I talk to you outside?" I ask. I chose Johnson because we've become really good friends, and it seems like he would tell me the truth. He nods and follows me outside.

Mahogany's P.O.V.

"Hey Johnson, can I talk to you outside?" Alli says, looking painfully confused. Even I'm confused, and this isn't about me.

"Shawn, I thought we weren't going to do this." Gilinsky spits through his teeth.

"Look, I know, but I just love her too much. She's been my best friend since forever. I've been in love with her since forever. I'm sorry but I just couldn't let you do this to us," Shawn replies.

"Wait, what are you talking about here?" I ask.

"So, from the first or second night we were here, I realized that I'm into Alli. I wanted to go for it, but didn't want to break bro code, so I asked Shawn's permission first. He claimed that there was nothing going on between them, but he really likes her. So when I told him that I was into her too, he got all mad. So, we decided that neither of us would have her. But SOMEONE broke that deal." Gilinsky explains.

"Wait. You do realize that it's ALLI'S choice right?" I reply.

"That's what I said." Shawn chimes.

"Oh shut the fuck up." Gilinsky responds.

"Woah! You guys both stop being so thick in the skull. Shawn, you have an amazing girlfriend. And Jack, you can't change that. So please don't start a fight over a girl! You guys know how that ends," I huff. "We're all on this tour together. Don't be the ones to ruin a great experience."

"Fine," they both mumble. I'm so through with playing peacekeeper between everyone. They need to suck it up and figure it out themselves. I get up and head back to my room.

Alli's P.O.V.

"What's up?" Jack asks.

"So I really need some answers here. So when I told the guys that Shawn and I are dating, everyone seemed kinda... I don't know... disappointed. What's with that?"

"Well, I shouldn't really tell you. You have to ask Gilinsky."

"Can you please just tell me?"

"Allison, I can't do that to him. He's my best friend."

Alli pouts, jutting our her bottom lip adorably. "Please? I don't need the details! Just the bare minimum. I'm tired of being left out of the loop."

"Fine, I guess. So when you got here, we all thought you were gorgeous. We still think that. But Jack... it was like he was into you in an instant," I blush. "And now, knowing that you're with Shawn, it hurt him. And all of us, knowing that he likes you so much."

"Oh," is all I manage to say. "Did he expect something different? That I was going to fall for him instantly?"

"I don't know, Alli. I guess that's what he hoped." Johnson pauses. "Look, I know it's a lot to take in, but it's the truth. He actually asked Shawn about dating you the first or second night we were here. But Shawn said he couldn't, and then they both agreed to just stay friends with you. But then Shawn broke that promise, and it all came crashing down."

My happiness turns to anger. Although almost every girl loves the trope of two guys fighting over her, I can't help but feel a little upset. Especially knowing that Shawn broke a promise to someone. That's something we have agreed on since we were little kids. If you can't keep the promise, then don't promise in the first place.

"So, yeah. I'm sorry if this puts you in a weird position. Do you need anything else?"

"Nah, I'm fine. Thanks Johson." I give him a hug and we both head back into the room. But I notice Mahogany isn't there. "Guys, where did Mahogany go?"

"She left. She was tired of us." Shawn explains.

I feel my blood boil. The boys are obviously out of line. They need to be checked. Why is it up to me to help maintain the order around here. I just roll my eyes and head out of the room, destined for Mahogany's.
