certain blocks are abled to be picked with hands?

Question: how was Jesse be able pick up certain blocks such as cobble stone and cake with his/her bare hands and they were able to show up in his/her inventory?

Answer: because it's probably a game mechanic in mcsm?

As we all know, in Minecraft you absolutely cannot pick up blocks such as cobblestone with your bare hands. You need a pickaxe to pick them up or else you ain't gonna get it. That's like trying to pick up cake with your bare hands which Jesse did as well

This is very weird, coming from someone who played Minecraft for fairly a long time. Now at first, I thought I ended up at a dead end for a while until I think I finally found something

Okay, so I'm gonna update something from my last theory, "what mode is mcsm set in"

So I did said that mcsm could be a mix of hardcore and survival mode.. but maybe there's a small mix of creative as well? Like of course, they still have to mine the blocks but maybe they could still give the characters the blocks sometimes without needing tools?

Either that or because Jesse was wearing armor be maybe the toughness of the armor was abled to have the cobblestone appear in Jesse's inventory after he/she mined it
