Chapter 23: The problem

Mabel squeezed her eyes shut and pretended to be asleep. Bill walked over to Mabel and gently kissed her on the forehead. He placed something on her bed and then left. When she was sure Bill was gone She rose up. There was a piece of paper on the foot of the bed. She picked up the paper and began reading. "Mabel, I have to leave for awhile. I have some business to attend to. I'll be back in a week. Bill." Mabel read aloud. Waddles snorted and covered his eyes.  Mabel sighed. She knew what he was doing. The letter was torn up and thrown in the the trash. Mabel was the only one home along with waddles. Grunkle Stan was playing poker at the diner. She tried to go back to sleep but it was no use.  Mabel turned over on her side. She flinched. Someone was coming upstairs. She froze. "Shhhhhh!" Dipper whispered. He wasn't the only one. There was a females voice as well. The lights were turned on. She stood up and yawned. Dipper looked at the other girl. Mabel gasped. "Bella?!" Mabel yelled. "Mabel?!" Bella retorted. At the same time the girls yelled, "Dipper?!" He shrugged.

"How do you know Bella?" Mabel asked Dipper. He looked Supriesd. "She just showed up!" Bella rolled her eyes. "How do you, know Bella? " Dipper mocked. Mabel didn't reply. Dipper turned to Bella. "How do you know Mabel?" He asked Bella. She smiled. "She's my brother's girlfriend!" She laughed. Dipper's face was showing confusion. "Whose your brother?!" Dipper asked hurriedly "Bill cipher!" She giggled.  "WHAT?!" dipper yelled. He looked betrayed. "Mabel, how could you? After he kidnapped you!?" Dipper screamed. She said nothing. Her hair hung over face. "Mabel?! I can't let anything happen to you!" His voice was sharp. Mabel ran up to him crying.  She started to beat on his chest with her fists. "You wouldn't understand!" She sobbed. Dipper hugged her. Bella had quietly slipped out. She continued crying into Dipper's arms.  He hugged her until her cries had died out.  Mabel lifted her head up and smiled. Dipper smiled as well. "I love you." Dipper said. She felt better. "I'm going to get some fresh air." She said. "Be careful!" Dipper shouted as Mabel left.

She put on a jacket and ran out of the mystery shack. The sky was full of stars. She wanted to go see Pacifica. The 2 had a history of fighting, but it had turned out that they actually liked the same stuff. She finally arrived at the northwest manor. She took out her phone and called Pacifica. "Hey!" Mabel spoke quietly let.  A few minutes later Pacifica was at the gate. "Let's go!" Pacifica cheered. The girls walked to the Diner. "I'm starving! " Pacifica groaned. Mabel laughed. "Fancy food sounds gross! " Mabel grinned. " Pancakes are so much better! " Pacifica dug in as the waitress brought the food. The girls talked while they ate. Mabel was actually having fun. It was nice to have a girlfriend. Ever since Candy was excepted into a gifted program. Grenda had moved to California to live with her aunt. Time had flown by. When Mabel looked at her phone it was already 3:00 in the morning. "Holy crap! " Mabel exclaimed. "I got to go. I'll pay the bill." She said.  Pacifica smiled. "Kay bye!  Be careful girl! " Pacifica shouted. Mabel  left the diner and began walking back to the mystery shack. She was almost there. The streetlight that was ahead started flickering. "Creepy. " Mabel muttered. She was listening to her music. Her hand slipped and she dropped her phone. She bent down to pick up her phone. In a instant a hand was wrapped around her mouth. She struggled with every ounce of energy she had. There was a sharp pain in her thigh. Something was being injected into her bloodstream. Her vision went blurry. She tried one last time to get free but it was useless. Her body went limp. "That's a good girl." was the last thing she heard.
