WELCOME TO BAND

"Ahh, I wanted to go into Girl Guides," was the first thought when I looked at the results.

In the school that I went to, entering a club after school is compulsory. Just a few weeks ago, us first years were met with turbulence of offers at the club showcase. Different people from different clubs approach us like hungry hyenas. We were met with sports people, uniform groups, went for auditions for the Modern dance club, try-out archery and hockey. It was truly a confusing week with seniors pushing their Clubs down our throat hoping that maybe some of us will swallow it and be interested in having more.

My top choices were Girl Guides, Concert Band and Badminton. I really want to join any of these as they are more interesting. Well as for why I placed band as my second, I think it was because my niece was in one and she's really good at playing many instruments: tuba, trumpet, euphonium, french horn and even trombone. She is only a year younger. At that time, I thought she's a genius but damn actually if you know one brass instrument's fingering, you can actually play two other brass instruments which have the same fingering.

"Who placed band as their first choice?" the head teacher asked.

Some people raised their hand, I saw eagerness in their eyes as they raised their hand. I'm just here like super cool, just kidding, I am excited too. I saw many of my classmates who found themselves in band.

After that, we went into the room. It was disappointing that we did not enter the band room but I guess it was only our first time getting together. The head teacher introduces himself as Mr Fad. He then proceeds to give us a introduction into the band, something along our band being a marching band before but after separating from our sister band we convert into a concert band and something about how we still incorporate the habits into the band now. I hardly remember anything that he was saying for that day.

To my defence, he's pretty boring.
