Nine

"Hi Kemper, how are you?" Kaykay asked the little girl as her, Luke, and Sierra entered. Luke and Sierra had given up their lunch breaks to take Kemper to see Crystal and Kaykay, who had also given her a private room since it was her first dentist appointment.

"Good, how are you?" Kemper asked.

"I'm good," Kaykay smiled. "Can you have a seat on that chair?" Kaykay pointed to that chair. Surprisingly, Kemper shied away from the idea, which surprised all of them. She was all for going to the dentist, but now disagreed with the idea. "What if Luke went first?" Kaykay suggested. Kemper agreed and on Sierra's lap in the guest chair as Kaykay showed Kemper that she was only going to check her teeth and count them.

"See, not bad," Luke smiled when Kaykay was done. He sat up and went over to where Sierra and Kemper were.

"Do you want to sit with Sierra still?" Kaykay asked and Kemper immediately nodded. Sierra laid on the chair with Kemper in her lap and Kaykay started to count Kemper's teeth as she held Sierra's hand tightly. "Good job, Kemp," Kaykay smiled when she was done, "you have all of your teeth," Kemper giggled happily at that comment. "I am worried about those two bottom teeth," Kaykay looked at Sierra then looked at Luke. "I can pull them out right now, but I'm just worried about what will be at the bottom,"

"How bad is it?" Luke asked.

"It could be bad, I want to get them out as soon as possible," Kaykay replied, "I can get Crystal in here and we can get it done quickly,"

"Let's do that," Sierra said. Kaykay nodded and left, but Kemper was clearly worried.

"I don't wanna," Kemper whimpered about to cry.

"It'll be alright," Luke reassured her, but Kemper shook her head.

"They'll get removed and we will see what's going on with your gums," Sierra said. Before Kemper could say anything, Crystal came in with Kaykay following, both holding smiles on their faces, though they were worried.

"Hey Kemper," Crystal chirped. "We're just going to get those teeth out quickly," Before anyone said anything else, Kemper covered her mouth with her hands and shook her head. "It'll be quick and you won't feel a thing," Crystal promised, "we're going to use laughing gas so you'll feel all silly while we get them out,"

Kemper still shook her head, so Kaykay tried this time, "And once you're done, the tooth fairy will come and give you money,"

"The what?" Kemper asked with her hands over her mouth.

"The tooth fairy, anytime you lose teeth she comes and takes them then gives you money," Kaykay explained with a smile.

"I don't wanna," Kemper shook her head.

"You gotta get them out darling," Sierra stroked her hair, "the quicker you let this happen, the quicker it'll be over," Surprisingly, Kemper took her hands off her mouth and Crystal got her hooked to the laughing gas while she held Sierra's hand tightly. And after a couple of minutes, Kaykay and Crystal both got the teeth out and examined the gums.

"Yeah, there is glue still," Kaykay muttered.

"I think we can just get it out right now," Crystal looked up at her.

"She'll need an antibiotic after it," Kaykay added. But the two went and got the glue out, which was painful for Kemper. "There, all done," Kaykay said, trying to cheer her up. She took some cotton and put it over where her two front teeth were while Crystal unhooked her from the laughing gas machine.

"You said it wouldn't hurt," Kemper barely got out as she sobbed while Kaykay brought up the chair.

"I know, I'm sorry I didn't think there would be glue stuck in the bottom," Crystal frowned, feeling bad for Kemper. It wasn't her fault, but it wasn't easy to see a kid in pain. Kemper cried as Sierra held her, trying to calm her down while Crystal explained to Luke how to clean her gums.

"Kemper, would you like to choose a prize from the prize box?" Kaykay asked once Kemper was calmed down. Kemper nodded as she rested her head on Sierra's chest, so Kaykay brought in the box and Kemper chose a sticky hand. "That's my favorite one," Kaykay smiled and Kemper lightly smiled.

"Alright Kemp, we gotta get back to your room," Luke said and Kemper nodded. They thanked Kaykay and Crystal, then went back to Kemper's room.

"How did it go?" Ashton asked, but Kemper didn't reply.

"Not well," Luke answered for her. He put the small bag of teeth on the nightstand next to Kemper's bed, "I gotta go check on patients, I'll check on you soon," Luke kissed the top of Kemper's head, then left Kemper with Ashton.

"Did it hurt?" Ashton asked and Kemper nodded, wiping the tears that started coming down her cheeks.

"I wanna watch beauty and the beast," Kemper mumbled loud enough for Ashton to hear.

"Alright," Ashton nodded and went over to turn on the movie, then sat with Kemper for a little bit until she fell asleep.
