James explains what happened from when he got to the pack house.

"Oh," Is all I say. I take a minute before I start dancing around and giggling. "Lia can control fire as well!" I say happily. "I thought only I could but she can to!" I can sense Lia's happiness. I yawn, "What time is it?"

"It's around midnight," yikes, I'm up waaaay past my bed time. I nod and search around. "Do you know where we are?"

I take a deep breath, "By the lake?" He nods. "I don't really know, Ive never been this far."

James sighs and runs his hand down his face. "Let's head back to the house, kiddo. I can take you to the lake whenever Thomas  decides to unground you." He says jokingly.

Another yawn escapes from my mouth. "Why do you call him that?" I ask and he looks at me puzzled.

"What do you mean?" He asks.

"You never call him dad," I say. "You either call him 'Thomas', 'Tom', 'sir', or 'Alpha'. How come?" I ask.

He rubs the back his neck, something I've noticed he does when he is nervous. "I- uh. Shit, lets just get home and worry about that after you get some sleep." James says.

I nod and we begin walking on the trail that leads to the house. "How much longer?" I ask. "My feet hurt," I complain.

"We're about five minutes away," he says abruptly. I groan, ever since I asked James why he doesn't ever call dad 'dad', he's been extremely quiet.

Lia starts to growl, what the hell? Quit growling, Lia. If James doesn't want to answer my question-

DANGER, Rose. Get the fuck home! "J-James?" I say shakily. He ignores me and continues walking. "James," I say again.

"What, kiddo?" He says as he turns around to face me. A twig snaps and I freeze. "Jesus kiddo, what? You want to know why I call him what I call him?" Another twigs snaps and I begin shaking. Fucking run! Lia shouts.

"We're not alone," I whisper. He looks at me confused then seems to hear a twig snap for the first time. He snaps his attention towards the direction of where the noise came from.

"Who's there?" He shouts.

"J-James, lets just go." I say as I begin to shake more and more. Lia keeps shouting over and over to run but I'm frozen in place. I grab James' arm but he shakes me off.

"Rose stop," he says. "Come out you fucking bitch!" He shouts. Twigs and leaves begin to snap everywhere.

"James!" I yell louder. He snaps his attention towards me. He goes to tell but stops when he notices how scared I am. "Lets go, please!" I insist. He nods his head and lifts me up.

"You have a better nose than I do, can you smell whoever it is?" He whispers in my ear.

"They aren't anyone from the pack, they stink." I whisper back. He tenses.

"Ok, I'm going to need you to hold on really tight. Okay?" He asks. I nod my head and tightly wrap my arms around his neck.

Growls erupt in every direction. James curses then bursts into a run. We get to the house faster than possible and barge into the front door.

"Rose!" Mom shouts in the relief. Dad is standing there with a faint pinkish tint to his skin. Yep, he's pissed.

James quickly and places me on the ground, "rogues," he says in between gasps. "Fucking rogues at least fifty feet away from here." Everyone tenses up.

I'm so tired I could fall asleep right- I snap my head towards the door. Fire? The adults are rambling and paying no attention to me. I take a sniff of the air that is coming in through the open door. It a fire all right.
