"Why won't Mr. Joestar and Avdol hurry up?" Polnareff complained, leaning against the hotel's outside walls. "I'm starving!"
"It's been a little bit too long to not be suspicious," Jotaro said. "It could be possible they came across an enemy."
"Do you think we should check?" Kakyoin asked.
"Maybe we should split up," you suggested. "You two can check in the hotel, while Kakyoin and I check around the city."
"Good idea," Jotaro replied. "Polnareff, come with me."
Polnareff walked into the hotel with Jotaro, but not before giving you two a little smirk. At this point, both of you just rolled your eyes, used to the teasing the other crusaders gave you.
"So, where to first?" Kakyoin asked you.
"Maybe they're out getting breakfast," you answered. "We should go check every restaurant to make sure. Maybe get something for ourselves while we're at it."
"You're just hungry, aren't you?"
You giggled. "Maybe. But so are Mr. Joestar and Avdol."
"Good point. Alright, let's check the restaurants around the area first."
Both of you walked around the area close to your hotel, and picked up some muffins along the way. After looking in every restaurant, you came up empty-handed. But throughout the whole search, you had felt a presence watching you. You tried to shake it off, though. After all, last time someone was watching you, it was just a man who wanted some inspiration for his art. But after a while, the feeling still didn't go away. And this time, there was a murderous intent following that feeling.
"Kakyoin," you whispered, as if the presence might be able to hear you. "Do you feel that, too?"
"Yeah," he muttered. "Let's find a place to turn so we can look behind us."
The two of you quickly turned left into an alley, and looked to your new left to see what was behind you before.
"I think I've seen that man before," Kakyoin eyed him suspiciously. "He's definitely been to the same restaurants as we have today."
You looked, and saw the man Kakyoin was talking about. Everything about him was wacky, his hair, his clothes, his glasses, so it was hard for him to blend in. When he locked eyes with you while you were turning into the alley, he started walking quicker.
"Kakyoin," you didn't even try to keep your voice hushed. "He's onto us. He's speeding up."
"Then we'll have to speed up, too," he replied. He grabbed your hand and started running. It wasn't long before you heard footsteps coming closer, though.
"You've chosen a bad place to run, you know!" the man laughed. "My Stand has already touched you!"
"(Y/N)," Kakyoin said through sharp breaths. "I'm gonna have to pick you up. You're getting slower and pulling my hand down." He hoisted you up into his arms, but almost dropped you. It felt like he overestimated your height. As you were coming to the other end of the alley, someone suddenly showed up from your blind spot, and Kakyoin hit them straight on.
"Sorry, sir," he said, voice straining. "I didn't see you there."
"Ah, Kakyoin!" Polnareff chimed. "Perfect timing! We were just looking for you!"
"Oh, Polnareff?" Kakyoin rubbed his head. "And Jotaro! This is good. We came across an enemy Stand user, and..."
"Where's (Y/N)?" Jotaro asked. "She was with you, wasn't she? And who's that kid in your arms?"
