"Hmmmmm......"
"Hmmmm.....?"
"Maaaaaybe...over there...?No, that's not it."
"Man, this map isn't gonna help me at all. Though it might be because I can't even read it."
"I probably should have learned the writing of it before coming here." The teenage girl groaned. With a huff, she turned around to set off on a random path, hoping that she'll arrive at her destination on time. Due to her being stuck in her thoughts, the girl failed to notice a blur rushing down the road.
"Oof!"
The two individuals yelped as they both were sent to the ground.
"Sorry!" They both exclaimed as they stood up. The boy tilted his head as he studied the person he bumped into. The girl donned an outfit that completely consist of a black uniform. Her long-sleeved Haori contains a gradient of orange and yellow. The baggy pants of the uniform were tucked into bandages that were tightly wrapped around her calfs. She also wears yellow sandals. A katana remains sheathed to her waist.
"Hey, you look kinda lost. Do you need help?" The boy asked, hands now gripping the straps of his backpack.
"Hehe, am I that obvious?" The girl laughed nervously as she scratched her cheek, "I'm trying to find the docks. That's where the boat to the hunter's exams are."
Suddenly the boy's expression lit up, "You're going to take the Hunter's Exam too?!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Ah, yes. Are you taking them too?"
"Mmhmm! Since we're both going to the Hunter's Exams, I'll show you where we go!"
The girl smiled with gratitude, "I'd like that. Thank you."
"I'm Gon!" The boy introduced himself.
"My name is (Y/N)"
The boy's smile grew bigger, happy to make his first friend on his journey as he took the girl's hand in his, "Let's go!"
(Y/N) chuckled at the boy's enthusiasm as she trailed behind him, slightly taken aback from the amount of energy he radiates. It was certainly refreshing compared to the tense air she's grown accustomed to during her travels to Whale Island.
The docks were filled with people, all bidding farewell to their loved ones who were set to leave to also take the hunter's exam. Both Gon and (Y/N) weaved their way through the crowd to reach the boat.
"Wow!" (Y/N) breathed with astonishment as she takes the sight of the huge form of transportation in front of her, "I can never get over by how cool these look!"
"You've never rode a boat before?" Gon asked.
"I did ride one to get here, but this'll only be my second time riding one." (Y/N) explained as she and Gon walked up the board to get on, "Back where I'm from, our land doesn't consist of islands, so I grew up without being surrounded by water compared to here so our form of transportation is very different."
"That's awesome!" Gon exclaimed with a shine in his eyes as he continued to learn more about his new friend.
The two continued to convers until the constant shout of Gon's name interrupted them. They turned their attention towards the docks where the islanders were standing, all waving and shouting congrats while wishing him the best of luck.
"Thanks, everybody!" Gon yelled, waving back at the people, "I'm gonna be the best hunter in the world! And as soon as I make that happen, I'll be back! I'll see you all again!"
