Chapter 16

-Chapter 16-

~Jake’s POV~

-Skip forward 4 years- ((SORRY))

I was taking Jinxx out today, to a carnival. But that was later on at night, I was taking him to dinner first. He was 24 this year, and well, I was positive that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

I mean, yeah, he is a neko, but that shouldn’t matter. It doesn’t to me; it just makes him cuter than he already is. With his spiky hair and fringe that fell in front of his gorgeous blue eyes. He’s just amazing; and perfect for me.

“Jake? What should I wear?” Jinxx asked as he walked out of the bathroom, dripping wet with his hair hanging over his eyes.

“Whatever you wanna wear, sweetie. But Choose something smart but casual.” I advised him as I started to get dressed. I was only in boxers, struggling to choose something smart enough.

“Okay, Jake~” I heard Jinxx say in a sing-song sort of voice before he joined me by the wardrobe to choose something.

He ended up pulling out a black dress shirt and a pair of black skinnies, which were his with a hole in the back, specifically for his tail.

I ended up with a sort of smart t-shirt and leather jacket; obviously with black skinny jeans as well. I had a pair of combat boots downstairs by the door that I’d put on when we got to that point.

Jinxx headed back into the bathroom after getting dressed to do his hair and make-up.

While he was through there doing that, I opened the top drawer of my bedside table and pulled a small box out from the back of the drawer. I opened the box slowly to reveal the diamond with a blue-ish tint that was stuck on a ring. Man that had cost quite a lot… but Jinxx would like it. I knew he would.

I put the box into my pocket, being careful. I definitely did not want to break the ring. That would be dreadful and the evening would be ruined really, the purpose of it anyways.

I took Jinxx out on quite a lot of dates. Saturday was date night, we’d go out and have a meal, go to the pictures. Anything fun really. Just to entertain ourselves, and then we’d often get each other random gifts. It was a great relationship, and I was keeping it how it is even after we get married. I’m not just going to drop the whole thing after he says yes and I do.

I’m not like those guys that do that, I want to keep him super happy forever. His smile is beautiful and I’d pay good money to hear him laugh. He was just… amazing.

“Jake? Are you ready?” Jinxx asked me, “’Cause the dinner is booked for like 6 and it’s half 5.”

“What? Yeah, just give me a minute.” I told Jinxx before fast walking through to the bathroom.

Luckily he’d left the hair straighteners on so I straightened my hair quickly and then put a little eye-liner on. Nothing as drastic as Jinxx had done. He’d done the whole eye-liner, smoky eye-shadow. It looked great on him.

Once I’d finished with that, it was 20 to 6; which left us just about enough time to get to the restaurant.

So, we headed downstairs, put our shoes on and headed out to the car. The car journey probably only took around 15 minutes so we got there right on time; clever me.

I parked up and we headed inside and were led to our table. It was a sushi restaurant. We both loved fish, especially Jinxx, since y’know, he is half cat.

We both ordered what we wanted from the menu, we’d been here quite a few times before, and it was the best sushi restaurant in the whole town. I mean the others were nice too, but this one was fantastic.

We made idle chat throughout dinner, just chatting about anything and everything. Like songs we’d heard on the radio, or deciphering the plot of ‘The Walking Dead’. We weren’t fully caught up yet, we’d started late so we were nearly caught up. Last episode we’d seen was Episode 3 of Season 5.

That ended up taking up a lot of the time while we were there. Just discussing who had died and how, if we remembered… obviously blood and guts were a great thing to talk about while eating your dinner.

After we’d eaten dinner and desert, we left, I paid the bill first, obviously. I ushered Jinxx back into the car, he didn’t know where we were going next. I hadn’t told him. It was a surprise.

Although I know taking him to a circus after all those years of him being there was a bad thing, it wasn’t like we were going to participate in anything at the circus other than the Ferris wheel. I knew Jinxx had never been on one before, and it seemed like an exciting place to propose. I’d do it when we stopped at the top.

The car ride there was nice; there were lights around the place because it was nearly Christmas time. And we played some rock music on the stereo. Just some old My Chemical Romance CD’s.

When we got to where we were going, Jinxx looked a little unsure, gazing out at the circus tent across the field.

“Don’t worry, we’re not going in there. I’m taking you somewhere else, in the circus area.” I told Jinxx.

“Okay… Sorry, I got a little scared for a second... hah..” Jinxx mumbled, laughing nervously at the end.

I leant over and kissed his cheek, “It’s okay, come on.” I told him before getting out of the car and walking round to his side.

Jinxx got out and then placed his hand in mine, holding on tightly. It was sort of cold and his hands were cold. Mine were warm, so I didn’t mind, at least I’d get to warm his hands up.

I walked with Jinxx to the gates and he stood still beside me, glancing around as I paid to get into the circus, and then bought two tickets for the Ferris wheel.

After I got the tickets, I was leading Jinxx into the circus field, towards a food cart.

“Wanna try some cotton candy?” I asked him as we neared the food cart.

“Sure! Does it taste nice?” Jinxx asked, leaning his head on my shoulder.

“It sure does, I think you’ll like it, sweetheart.” I murmured, pressing a kiss to his head before we stepped forward and I bought him a stick of candyfloss.

We walked around for a little, Jinxx eating the candyfloss, he was really enjoying it; so I was glad.

But next, I had to take him to the Ferris wheel. So I led him over and we waited in line for a little while before it was our turn to get in. I told the guy running it to stop the carts for a few minutes when Jinxx and I got to the top because I was planning something special.

So we got in and Jinxx sat beside me although we were the only ones in the little cart. It started to move and go up slowly, stopping ever once and a while. I sat there, cuddling Jinxx and kissing his face before we eventually reached the top and the whole thing stopped.

Here’s my chance.

I got off the chair and got down onto one knee, as best as I could in such a cramped space.

“Jinxx,” I started, “I’ve known you since you were 17 now. And every minute I’ve spent with you have been the best moments of my life. I have no idea where I’d be now if I hadn’t saved you from that circus tent all those years ago. I can’t imagine not having you in my life and I love you so much, baby.” I paused to take the box out of my pocket. Jinxx’s eyes were sparkling and he looked so happy.

“Would you do the honours of spending the rest of your life with me?” I asked him, hopefully.

I was answered with a million yes’s and then kisses all over my face before his lips finally met mine. His lips tasted of candyfloss.

So, now, I was going to spend the rest of my life with my sweetheart. I couldn’t be any happier.
