The Strike That Changed Everything ~
The rain was pouring hard around her as she clutched her heart, the hot tears streaming heavily down her cheeks. Why did she always have to fall for the ones who broke her just when she was finally starting to feel safe? She swiped away the hot tears with the back of her hand harshly, wincing slightly as she rubbed over the newly formed bruise under her left eye. It wasn't fair, but tonight, the heavy rainfall matched how she was feeling perfectly. She was soaked to the bone as she made her way down the sidewalk, thunder booming in the distance and she jumped slightly at the sudden noise.
Of course, it had to be a storm; she smiled softly as she stopped in her tracks.
The nightly storms had always made her feel a sense of safety, enjoying the view of the heavy rainfall pouring against the window of her apartment whenever it happened, she'd watch and listen as the rain poured hard outside, thunder booming in the distance with the inevitable flash of lightning that would tear through the sky and light up the floor of her home and brighten up the entire world for merely a second.
The storms always reminded her of him. Denki Kaminari.
Her favourite comfort character from her favourite anime. Her little sister had always teased her about the obsession, watching in the doorway of her old bedroom in amusement as her older sister neatly organised all of her Denki related merch that she had collected throughout the years.
"Ty, you have a serious obsession with him," her younger sister would always say with a laugh, her tone teasing.
"I can't help it that Denki related merch is rare, I'm a collector, Mae." She would say in reply without looking up from her large collection, carefully dusting the shelf that held her figurines.
"It's an obsession." Her sister would say with a loud laugh.
She would usually turn around at that point to smirk at her younger sister. "Says the one who owns just as much merch for Toga." Grinning in triumph as she watched her little sisters tanned cheeks turn dark with a guilty blush.
Her sister would smirk at her and enter her bedroom to collapse on her bed with a loud laugh, throwing her tanned forearm over dark brown eyes full of laughter. "Touché."
Fuck, how she wished that she could meet him, even if it was just for a moment. To thank him for making her feel so safe and hug him tight, even if he thought she was completely fucking weird, she wouldn't care. She just wanted to thank him for making her feel so safe. To thank him for all the smiles and laughs.
Lightning flashed across the sky, making her pause in her tracks, lighting up the sidewalk and the cloudy night sky as she stood there, tilting her head towards the sky and closing her eyes as she let out a shaky breath, the pouring rain was cool and comforting against her burning skin. The lightning lit up the sky as she watched the light flash behind closed eyelids.
She opened her eyes and straightened, the storm helping her feel at ease, the tears were finally slowing down and she held back a sob as she accidentally ran into someone, apologising quietly before she continued on, finally deciding on heading home.
What she didn't realize was that the person she had accidentally bumped into would change her life for the better...
