Suck up | Jeverus

Part 16

Ok so he was running.

Thankfully not away but towards severus' direction. He was currently running down the streets of the city, trying to make his way to severus' flat on foot.

Because when he left he was debating asking for sirius' car but then he let him know remus was freaking out in his room and it caused sirius to have an aneurysm so, here he was.

Running.

He stopped by a drugstore on the way to get an energy drink and chugged it down in record time. Apparently caffeine helps produce adrenaline and he was in desperate need of it if he was gonna do this.

He basically ran into the lobby of his apartment complex, scaring some poor kid standing by the elevators and bolted up the stairs.

Why was he taking the stairs? Lord knows why.

By the time he was at severus' floor ( 6th) he was dying from the run to the apartment and the climb up. He weakly knocked on the door, ready to collapse.

He heard a brief argument inside and then the door was swinging open.

James practically fell into his arms, well he was hugging him but mostly using him for support.

" what the-? James?"

" yeah." James huffed then looked up from where he was holding onto severus.

" hi."

Severus chuckled, smiling at him completely confused.

" hi. What are you doing here?"

" um....i uh- well i thought we should finish our previous discussion." He swallowed down the lump in his throat.

" oh. Ok yeah, sure. Wanna come in?"

" mind dragging me in? My legs feel like jelly."

Severus laughed and nodded, grabbing james by the arm and helping him in.

" wanna go to my room?"

" damn sev, moving a little fast no?" James teased.

Severus hit james' arm and glared at him. It didn't last long though because soon he was smiling softly and dragging James to his room.

As expected, his room was completely spotless. It was honestly weird how neat it was. If it wasn't for the messy desk and mountain of books lining the wall he wouldn't have expected someone to live here.

He pursed his lips when he saw the bed, three throw pillows with cheesy chemistry jokes and one with the periodic table embroidered into it.

On top of the four pillows was two normal ones, dressed in black like the rest of his sheets.

" you have a lot of pillows. What, do you like to drown in them?"

" shut up and sit jelly legs."

James laughed but sat down on the bed anyway, more like laid down because the bed was surprisingly soft.

Severus laid down next to him, both of them looking into the ceiling until james broke the silence.

" i like you."

He heard severus gulp loudly, then start fidgeting with his sweater.

" and not in the fake, i wanna get lily so im gonna use you as a bridge i like you. An actual i like you, like i wanna start dating you."

He thinks he saw severus nod from his peripheral vision but he was too scared to actually turn his head.

There was a beat of awkward silence, the tension in the air was so thick james could barely breath. Or maybe his lungs collapsed from running who knows.
