Niall pov

I blow-dried my blonde hair and spiked it up a bit in the process. I slipped on my white t-shirt with two huge slits in the back. I lazily threw my white hoodie over my head to cover my dark grey wings, grey jeans and white converse. I cracked my knuckles and went out into the kitchen. I put my mug which was previously filled with tea, into the microwave to warm it up. I screwed on the top and threw it into my bag. I added a few necessities and shoved my phone into my back pocket. I walked out the front door and the cool Irish air hit me. I took off my hoodie and flexed my wings before taking off. You see, 13 years ago the corporation created me from a test tube. I was literally born with wings and genetically enhanced features. I’m strong, fast, I can fly about 250 mph. I got to Uni in no time at all. I landed safely on the edge of town and speed-walked the remaining distance. My friend Josh was waiting for me at our tree behind the building. “Hey Josh.” I said to my friend and swung up into the tree. “No hanging on the trees Niall!” He mocked one of the attendants here that would always scold me for sitting in the tree. They eventually gave up on me. I flicked a piece of paper at his head and laughed. “We’d better get to class.” Josh reminded me and we walked down the halls to Chemistry. We took almost all the same classes though we don’t have them all together. He doesn’t know my secret. Since I was born from a test tube, I never had parents or siblings. The corporation taught me how to fend for myself and live on my own. When I was ten they left me alone in Mullingar, Ireland to fend for myself. I’m doing pretty well. The corporation haven’t checked up on me in about nine years but I don’t mind. I literally lived in a glass box for the first ten years of my life. I lived with all the other Hybrids, that’s what they called us, in that damn glass cage. We were all blonde, probably has something to do with the genes. There weren’t many of us but I remember two girls and a guy. I don’t remember their names but we used to get along really well so I didn’t mind living there too much. Then they started disappearing one by one. No one was telling us where they went. Finally, one of the girls left, then the guy, until me and the other girl were the only ones left. Then one morning I woke up and she was gone, too. I was the last to go. They dropped me off here and I never saw any of them ever again. I couldn’t find any records of anything, but I wish I had at least written down their names so maybe one day I could go looking for them. When I was dropped off, they left me in a house, fully fledged with house-y things. And on the coffee table there was a packet. It just stated how I was to tell no one anything and gave me my social information. We didn’t have last names back at the lab. They called us by numbers but my friends and I made up our first names together. Apparently the corporation knew that I was used to be called by Niall and they gave me my last name, Horan. Niall Horan, ‘born’ September 13, 1993, parents abandoned at age 10. That last one was a lie. I never had parents, but I guess I couldn’t really be living by myself at age 10. Apparently I was in a ‘foster home’ that worked with the corporation and if any legal matters had to be resolved, I was on file there. I never had any friends over until I was 13 and I could legally be home alone. My ‘foster mum’ was always ‘out’ when my friends came over. I had 3 friends, but two of them moved and I was left with Josh. Josh was a cool kid and he enjoyed music and science like I do. He wasn’t popular or anything and we got along just fine. I still was lingering on my friends back then. Where were they? How are they doing? Is the corporation still in contact with them? I had over 9,000 questions for them, but I heard my name being called and snapped out of my day dream. “Niall!” Josh was right up in my face and I hadn’t noticed him. “What is wrong with you? Lately you’ve been acting real strange.” He questioned me. “Just…thinking.” I really didn’t want to burden him and even if I did, now is really not the time or place to do it. The day went by rather quickly. I was flying home when my phone vibrated in my back pocket. I landed in the middle of the scarce woods and pulled it out. I tapped the screen a few times before reading the message. I felt my jaw drop and my eyes widened. Before I knew it I was kicking down trees and throwing a full on tantrum.
