"Who wants to go riding?" My dad asks me.

I smile at him, running into his arms.

"Me, daddy! Me! I wanna go for a ride!" My five year old self says.

He picks me up and takes me to the car, smiling and making funny faces at me.

"Where are we going, daddy?"

"What do you like to do the most?"

"Chase the rainbows!"

"See that rainbow?"

He points to the one so bright and beautiful in the sky. I nod.

"We're going to chase that rainbow, my perfect little angel."

I smile and daddy buckles me up. He gets into the driver's side and starts the engine.

"What sound does a car make?" He asks, the smile never leaving his face.

"VROOM! VROOM!"

He laughs and nods his head. We start off on our journey to the rainbow. We joke the whole way there, making each other laugh. My love for my father so overpowering I could barely stand it. I loved him so much. Couldn't bare a day without him.

Suddenly I hear him scream. Pure terror. Then they hit us. I don't remember what happened after we got hit. I remember waking up and hearing the sirens closing in.

"Daddy?" I say, crying.

I crawl out from my seat and find him. The car is flipped on the side. I look out the broken windshield and see my daddy, laying there. Bloody and broken and hurt and crying and dying.

"DADDY!" I scream gathering up all my energy and running to him.

"My perfect little angel, please take care of mommy. And give her this," he says, handing me a little ring.

"Okay, daddy, but why can't you give it to her?"

"I just can't darling. I don't have enough time. Please, promise me something," he begs.

His voice is weak and fading.

"Anything, daddy."

"Don't have kids before you're married. It causes to many problems. Honey, trust me. You and your mother almost didn't make it. You've gotta take good care of her now. Do it for daddy."

I nod my head and hug him, my body pressed up against his bloody body. I know it causes him pain because every time I move he makes a pain filled noise. Yet he pulls me closer. Closer than before. So close it hurts.

"I love you, my perfect little angel," he says, his voice barely a whisper. You can hear the life draining from him.

"I love you too, daddy."

A smile floats across his face and then he takes his last breath. Leaving me forever.
