Everything changed on Christmas Day the following year. For as long as I can remember, I have loved this holiday. The lights, the snow, the trees, the presents and the hot chocolates, there was enough to make anyone happy for a short while, to promise to look after each other for as long as life would allow. Christmas for me was an expression of the best part of each of us.

Jungkook had just returned from his part-time job and I was waiting for him on the sofa in the living room, with my full attention riveted to the children's cartoon on the television, a packet of crisps in my hand. After unloading his things, he came to join me, and I immediately snuggled up to him. I had missed his warmth so much.I missed it every time he was away.He put his arm around my shoulders and I buried my head further into his neck, breathing in his scent, my eyes closed.

"How was your day? "he asked, putting his lips to my temple.

I looked away from the television and looked at him tenderly.

"Yes, it was fine. I went to the mall this afternoon to buy some last minute gifts for Jin and Namjoon, but I had to leave empty handed, the shelves were literally raided. What about you? "

He nodded in turn, and I gave him a sulky pout. He laughed softly, and just as I was about to reposition myself properly to follow my cartoon, Jungkook's two hands came to rest on my face. And just as I was about to protest, he cameand gently put his lips on mine.I laughed too, despite the fact that he was restricting my mouth movements, and after he lifted off of me, I gave him a sneaky kiss on the cheek.

"I was entitled to my kiss of the day, wasn't I? "

Without a word and with a smile on my face, I settled back into his arms. I was warm and close to him.Outside, Seoul seemed to be buried in snow. But all the houses lit up the neighbourhoods with their bright lights. It was already dark, even though it was only eight o'clock in the evening, and yet our neighbours were chatting happily on their doorsteps, not even caring about the freezing cold from which we were protected inside our house, buried under the duvets and our bodies as if welded together.

Looking back, I've changed a lot since high school. Meeting Jungkook had made me mature, taught me to look at things and the world differently.I had learned to accept strangers in my life, not to push them away at first contact for fear of what they might do.A few months after moving here, I had reconnected with my parents. The first few exchanges were complicated, but after a few phone calls and several rather tense dinners, I was back in my old relationship, and I was particularly happy about it.

Jungkook finally got up and told me he had "something important to do", which startled me.A grunt of displeasure came from my mouth as I had to leave the warmth of his arms.

I settled back into the couch, returning my attention to the images that were still scrolling on the screen.A few minutes later, Jungkook came back to me, carrying Yeontan in his arms despite the hatred he felt for the little creature. He'd never really liked my puppy, not since I'd taught him to climb on our bed and sleep with us.And of the two of them, I could never tell which one was more jealous.

I sat up slowly, knowing full well that Jungkook never carried Yeontan in his arms unless he had to.

"- Did he hurt himself somewhere? "I asked him immediately, fearing that my dog had damaged himself somewhere.

As he only responded with a sneer, I quickly realized that something was up.

"You're the one who hurt him, right? I know you don't like him, but you really hurt him.Kook! " I yelled at him as I hurriedly got up to take the little fur ball back into my arms.

"That creature is a monster. If either of us had a chance to hurt the other, it would be him, trust me! "

I glared at Jungkook, who replied jealously, though his smile never left his face. What are you hiding ?

"Don't worry, Yeontan. You must forgive him. The evil toad has no brains, that's why he sometimes does things like..."I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw something hanging from my little fur ball's neck.
