Peter and I sat at the side of the ship while Stark and Strange argued over whether we should try to turn the ship around, or see where it's going. "So," I asked him, "What's your origin story?"
"My what?"
"Origin story, every hero has one. Cap wanted to see the world become a better place, so he took the serum. Stark was kidnapped in Afghanistan, and he learned how much harm his weapons were doing, so he built the first Iron Man suit there."
"My origin story, ok, um, my name is Peter Parker, and I was bitten by a radioactive spider. For the past year and a half, I have been the one and only Spider-Man. I fought with Iron Man in Germany, met you, we fought my girlfriend's dad, then I went into space. Not much else."
"No traumatic loss? Nothing that pushed you to be a better person?"
"Well, yes, but-you couldn't understand," he started to turn away, and I grabbed his arm.
"Peter, I'm probably the only one who does understand," I took a deep breath, "My mom was very sick with bone marrow cancer, and they couldn't find the right kind of blood. I was the only person who had the same type on short notice, but it was right after I had got bit by the spider, and I didn't know what was happening, and I didn't want to make things worse for her, so I ran away," I could feel the tears coming on, this was the first time I had talked about it. I've been avoiding the topic, but now it was all coming out, "The doctors ended up finding the right kind of blood, but-but it was too late, she died a few days later. It's been about a year now, and I don't feel any better about it. I'm the reason I don't have my mom."
"My uncle died because of me," Peter looked off into the distance, "My parents died when I was really young, so Aunt May and Uncle Ben raised me. Right after I had got my powers, I was out testing them, but I didn't stop a robbery when I could have. Later, that same robber did a drive by shooting, and killed my Uncle Ben. I know how it feels, to not do something, and lose a loved one because of it. He always told me that 'with great power comes great responsibility', but I didn't really understand what he meant until then." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and we looked off into space, crying.
About ten minutes later, Stark came into the room where we were sitting. "Parker, Stacy, you in here?"
Peter responded, "Yeah, we're in here, what do you need, Mr. Stark?"
"Where are you? Is Gwen with you?"
"Yeah, I'm right here."
"Are you invisible?"
I looked down at my hands, or where they were supposed to be, I couldn't see them, "Yeah, I guess so."
"Where's Peter?"
"Right next to me," I turned to look at him, and he wasn't there, I squirmed out of his grip, and he appeared. I turned visible, too.
"What happened?"
"I think I turned us invisible!"
"Alright, now that you're back, we need your guys' help."
We stood up, and followed Stark out. Strange was sitting there with orange glowy disks around his hands, "I think we're reaching our destination."
"Well, where is it?" Stark asked.
We looked around, but there was nothing but open space-literally- in front of us. I went to a side window, and looked out, seeing a huge planet covered in ruins. "Now, I'm no Sherlock Holmes," I called to them, "But I think I found where we're going." I pointed out the window, and everyone followed my gesture and found the planet. The ship was rotating to face it, and we all headed back to the front.
