FOUR. FLORENCE

AUGUST 4TH

FLORENCE was at her best friend haileys, packing stuff up for a picnic that her and her friends were going on.

she sang along to the lorde blasting on the smart tv in the living room, as she made sandwiches, her best friends yelling along in the living room, they had given up on 'helping' within five minutes.

"you fuckers are lazy!" florence yelled, the pair being in the living room and her in the kitchen.

"okay!" venus yelled back in response.

"fine with that!" hailey added.

"i hate you." florence muttered under her breath, and went back the sandwiches.

the girls phone started ringing a few seconds later, so she yelled at her friends to pause the music, before grabbing her phone and holding it up to her ear.

"hello?" she asked, not knowing who it was because she didn't have the number saved.

"florence?" the voice questioned happily, and florence grinned.

"lola?!"

"and jane!" a deeper voice piped up, and florence smiled even wider.

"hi, my loves!" she exclaimed, "oh my god!"

"hi!" lolas voice chirped, and florence smiled softly, she had missed the blonde, "jane and i are in new york this week, looking at apartments, and we were wondering if you wanted to hang out?!"

"of course!" florence agreed immediately, "i'm with two of my friends, about to go on a picnic, do you guys wanna join us?"

"that sounds lovely, if it's okay with your friends!" lola responded sweetly, and florence realized how much she had missed the girl the past couple years.

"i'll check with them, one sec!" florence said, before muting really quickly, "guys! is it okay if two of my california friends come on our picnic? they're in new york today," florence explained, and both of her friends nodded.

"sure, man!" hailey exclaimed, "maybe they'll be cooler than you and i can finally replace you," they joked.

"of course, my love!" venus said sweetly, "the more the merrier."

"okay!" florence smiled, before unmuting herself, "they both said they'd love to have you guys,"

"gay people only though!" hailey exclaimed from the couch so lola and jane could hear, "if you're straight you can't come, sorry not sorry to quote demi lovato!"

"ignore them," florence laughed, and lola laughed too.

"agreed, honestly." jane replied, and florence laughed again.

"i'll send you guys the location, and we'll see you in about an hour?"

"sounds good!"

"bye, babes!"

FLORENCE, hailey and venus had just shown up at the park they were having their picnic at, and laid out a red and white checkered blanket, and put down their picnic basket with food.

they pulled out the cake, sandwiches, and drinks, before grabbing the plates and silverware and setting it up.

florence smiled at the sight of the picnic blanket all set up, happy that she was gonna be with all four of her best friends at once, and the idea that lola and jane might be moving to the city and maybe they could be a friend group.

a couple minutes later she saw two girls walking towards them, and recognized her old best friends.

"my babies!" florence squealed, and ran up to lola, jumping on her and straddling her as she gave her the biggest hug.

"ew, jane." florence said blandly, and jane rolled her eyes, smiling sarcastically, before holding her middle finger and thumb up, aimed at the redhead.

"ew, a ginger." jane replied, sounding equally as bland, before the two girls laughed and hugged each other.

florence grabbed both their hands, and dragged them over to the picnic blanket laid out on the grass.

"these are my friends, lola and jane!" florence informed hailey and venus, who smiled.

"hi!" venus smiled, "i'm venus, and i go by they/them."

"hi!" lola responded, "i'm lola, and i go by she/her!"

"hi, i'm hailey, i go by she/they, and i'm better than venus."

"frick you!"

"that pussy can't even say fuck."

"shut up."

jane laughed, but introduced herself, "i'm jane! lolas girlfriend and florences role model, and i go by she/her."

"fuck you," florence glared, "we all know i'm your role model."

"yes, i totally want to be the bitch that can't spell definitely." jane shot back, and florence fake gasped.

"fuck you, spaeder! it's a hard word to spell!" florence argued, and jane nodded.

"yes, because transparency is too," jane rolled her eyes.

"that was a hard spelling bee, i was under a lot of pressure!" florence defended.

"looks like they've got a lot of catching up to do," hailey whispered to lola and venus, who nodded and laughed.

"apparently." lola responded.

     LATER that night the group of friends was all back at haileys apartment, watching coraline on their couch, but most of them being asleep.

jane and lola were fast asleep, cuddling cutely, which florence snapped a picture of.

venus and hailey were also asleep, hailey laying on florences stomach, hugging her side as she snored.

florence giggled at the snoring coming from her friend, and took out her phone to record it for her private story.

florence sighed contentedly as she looked at her friends fast asleep, she had missed jane and lola, and she was happy that the girls had gotten along with hailey and venus, and that she got to see them again.

florence yawned, and her eyes fluttered shut, as she drifted into a peaceful slumber.
