Chapter 6 - Charlize

It happened again, my time was running out even though it hadn't been a full day before I had to go back to the hospital, it was a dreadful feeling. Like something was squeezing my guts and pulling my limbs away from me. It was awful. How much longer will I go through this?! I just wanted it to end even if I had to die...

Mrs. Opal: What? You can extend her life if I accept? Of course, I want to live, but what happens to her after? Will I still be able to keep her? Okay okay, I'll sign the document. Done, does that mean her life will be extended now? It'll take a few hours for the government to process and extend her life? Okay. I'll try not to worry.

Charlize: M-m-mom? Is there something wrong?

Mrs. Opal: Not to worry, you'll be fine I promise.

Charlize: What did you sign? What did you do?

Doctor Kim: Mrs.Opal, we have good news.

Mrs. Opal: What news is good?

Doctor Kim: We have found a way to extend her life much longer.

Mrs. Opal: No, I already resolved that.

Doctor Kim: You can't take her from the hospital, she's not in the condition to be released yet.

Mrs. Opal: She'll be fine, we've found her a new home anyways.

Charlize: Pardon? Did I hear that right?

Mrs. Opal: Someone told me on the phone they can extend your life... WITHOUT the means of untested drugs.

(Doctor Kim winces at the wording of her sentence)

Charlize: Who? Who told you?

Mrs. Opal: Someone named Mrs. Hervest or Harvest? Don't exactly how to pronounce it...

Charlize: You mean Mrs. Harvest?

Mrs. Opal: Yes yes. That was the name...

Charlize: But, but that's Rowan's mom!

Mrs. Opal: Oh... that's fine you've been to his house, much better than ours right? It'll be a great home for you!

Charlize: But I don't want to leave!

Mrs. Opal: They're coming to pick you up in 5 minutes, they'll drive you back home so you can pack quickly, and then you'll leave. You're legally their adopted child...

Charlize: But then what about you?

Mrs. Opal: I'll still get to see you, you'll still get to see me. It'll be fine.

Charlize: Are you sure? 

Mrs. Opal: If it saves your life I'll do anything.
