Jane wrote down the last words in her notebook and threw her pen on the table. Finished. She deeply breathed in and stretched the muscles in her shoulders. Her eyes were focused on a random item in front of her.
It had been an active and intensive day, and the day wasn't even over yet. Jane had been in the library since 9:00 o'clock this morning to study for an upcoming test, prep an assignment for herself and a few exercises for the two kids she was tutoring later this afternoon.
"You finished?" Luna whispered, she sat across from Jane at the table.
Jane nodded and blew up her cheeks. "Luckily, yes," she breathed. "You?"
"Far from that..." Luna sighed. "Are you leaving?"
"Yeah, I have to pick up the kids in 30," Jane muttered and closed her laptop. "I have to go to the flower shop first."
Luna looked down at her work; she knew this would be it for today. And forcing herself to study any longer, wouldn't do it either. "I'm leaving too."
The two students and best friends collected their stuff and put it in their bags. They threw away their garbage on the way to the exit. Once they both left the library and entered the hallway, two loud and exhausted sighs rolled over their lips.
"My goodness..." Luna loudly said and ran her hands through her hair. "Can we go to the bathroom? I have to reapply my makeup and stuff." Jane nodded. "I don't want to sound creepy, but I have been watching you study, and how do you stay focused? I didn't have it in me today."
They walked to the bathroom. "I don't know, I just work and study," Jane answered casually and placed her handbag on the counter in the bathroom.
She was one of those persons who could study for hours long. Luna, on the other hand... If she could study for 30 minutes straight, the milestone would be published in the newspapers because that was rare.
"Will it be a long day with the kids?" Luna curiously questioned. "My sister is coming over for dinner, so you know." She reapplied some powder on her face. Luna and Jane were housemates.
Jane had a quick touchup, getting rid of the shine on her face. "I don't know. It's their mum's birthday and an investors dinner, so I don't think it will be long. Those kids are way too impatient to do anything else than celebrating a birthday," she replied and washed her hands. "I will keep you posted on the situation."
"If you will, please. Then I will know how much food I need to make."
A warm smile curved on Jane's lips. "Of course."
After a few minutes, they both were ready to go. It was sunny outside, so they both put their sunglasses on their nose. It was a warm day, the first time in ages. The summer almost arrived in Italy.
Usually, Jane didn't really pay much attention to the surrounding of the library garden, all she could think of was how fast she could go home later this evening. However, today she was scanning the area thoroughly this time. Her eyes fell on one person in particular, and she straightened her face. "You've got to be kidding me," she said.
"What?" Luna also scanned the area, not understanding what was wrong. "What's wrong?"
"Look who's here," Jane mumbled and looked away. "For real?"
Luna parted her lips and scanned the people for the second time, until her eyes fell on that person too. "What is he doing here?"
"I don't know." Jane sighed annoyed, how to ruin someone's mood in one second?
"Walk and don't say anything. I will just keep talking, okay?" Luna tried to comfort Jane. They walked off the stairs, towards the exit of the garden. "Chiara told me she would move to Singapore, just for her girlfriend. And I'm like: fine, do it. But it's Singapore, not Milan..."
