"Tell me somethin' Lena," Aubrey said suddenly breaking the silence between them at the dinner table.

"It depends on what it is," she replied her eyes never leaving her dish in front of her as she proceeded to cut into her steak.

Aubrey grinned, continuing to slowly swirl the liquor in his glass. "When we're married and on our third kid—"

"Excuse me," Selena slightly coughed, nearly choking as she laughed. "Married with three kids, that's very specific."

"That's what I said," Aubrey said, watching her intently. Though they were only friends he couldn't help but to fantasize about what it be like if they truly did get together.

"Who said that I wanted that with you?" Selena slyly said lifting her wine glass to her lips.

"Who else would you want that with but me." Selena rolled her eyes playfully at his bold words.

"My Aubrey," she smiled, "you surely know how to win over a woman's affections."

"Don't you know who I am," he said, "baby that's all I know how to do."

"Being a player is what you do best," Selena said going back to her dinner. Selena had to admit, there was never a dull moment when they were together. Selena enjoyed his company and of course she had to catch herself from crossing the line with him. She too wondered what it would be like if they were actually together. As soon as her mind started to wonder reality was never too far behind.

"You really think I'd play you like how you've been playing me?" Aubrey question, finishing off what was left in his glass. "You know how I feel about you Lena," he paused, "we've known each other for almost three years now. If I was really a player Babygirl I would've fallen back by now due to the lack of pussy."

"Is our friendship not enough?" Selena asked warily,

Aubrey reached over taking her hand into his, "It's everything baby and you know that." He reassured, "I'm trying to tell you that I'm in love with you, but your stubborn ass don't want to hear it."

"I'm a ticking time bomb Aubrey," Selena said, "do honestly believe that you'd ever survive me?"

"You just haven't had someone like me love your crazy ass like this before."

"I can't believe you went there, Selena!" Lilliana screamed through the speaker of my phone. Her voice was filled with shock and disbelief as she continued, "Not only that, but as your lawyer, that post of yours is a bit self-incriminating." Maybe a quick chat with Lilliana wasn't the best idea. Especially since I was still nursing my hangover from the night before.

"I invited you too, but you said no, and no, it's not. Even though I meant what I said, those mud fishes don't know that." Which they didn't, but as time went on, thousands of people took it upon themselves to create their own theories about my involvement and the true meaning behind my post. I didn't care. I wasn't sorry or apologetic about a damn thing. Benjamin kept his word, and that's all that mattered to me. I'd take all the pressure, as long as it didn't touch Aubrey.

"You just keep me on retainer, but what do I know." Lilliana said sarcastically, "Besides, you knew that I couldn't follow you on your Lemonade world tour. The last thing I need is to become the prime witness in your second husband's murder investigation. I think not."

I smirked at Lilliana's sarcastic remark, but deep down, she was right in a way. Aubrey made it very clear when he stabbed Benny's hand into the table that he should stay away from me. Yet here I was doing the very thing that I knew he'd lose his mind over—partying it up all over Euorpe with my ex-whatever and his little sister.

Aubrey's known where I've been for weeks. If he hasn't made that known already, he probably never will. In the end, I knew that he was watching my every move as much as I was watching his every move via social media. His friends have been keeping his ass busy with half-naked women in the clubs smiling like they're having the time of their lives. Fuckers. "He's the last thing on my fucking mind. If it's not about our daughter, then I could care less about him. I've been stressed out to the point of forgetting to take care of myself. I needed a break."

"So I've heard," she sighed, "so much so that you shot Drake's child's mother."

"That woman," I huffed, "Benny approached her without-"

"Benny?!" Lilliana boomed, "You're telling your business to Benny?"

I rolled my eyes. "It's not like that,"

"Then what is it like, Selena?" She asked, "He's been back in your life for what - only a few months, and he's already inserting himself where he doesn't belong."

"Everything is much more complicated than you think, Lilli. Believe me when I tell you that." I scoffed, "How would I know that he'd speak to that woman?" Fucking Benny. Still unpredictable, even with age.

"You should have known, she stressed, "just like you should've known that having the time of your life on Italian gondolas with your ex-whatever isn't what you should be doing, Selena. You two always had this weird connection, and you two couldn't ever help but to enable the worst in each other."

"Nothing is going on between us, Lilli. I wasn't for his idea of getting away, but now that I have, I'm happy that I did." This was more than a quick get-away; it was a bargaining chip that I took willingly on my end to save my ungrateful husband. I needed to protect him. Protect us and what we've built together.

"I'm sorry Benjamin was right?"

Yes, I needed this break; besides, his sisters here with us," I smiled.

"Oh the one you replaced me with for Bon Jovi?" She scoffed,

"Jesus will you ever get over it?"

"I don't know, maybe when they reunite in the next thousand years."
