Mission: Protect Xiao Zhan (Completed)

ARC 6: Cultivation 2

Lan Zhan enjoyed the confusion plastered on Wei Ying's face all through the day. He was unusually quiet all through class, Lan Qiren was proud of himself, thinking his teaching had finally made an impact on that brat. When it was Lan Xichen's turn to teach, he noticed Wei Ying's discomfort. As if he could speak to Lan Zhan by telepathy, he paired them both together which made Wei Ying slip up a lot. That class was a total chaos as the two best students could not complete a task so simple that Nie Huaisang got it right on the first round.

Lan Qiren had travelled for a meeting far away and the people in Caiyi town had been complaining of water ghouls snatching people who went to the river. Lan Xichen took Lan Zhan out in order to exterminate the ghouls as that river served as a source of transport, food and income to the locals.

As they walked passed the gate, they came across Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng. Seeing that Wei Ying was trying to avoid his brother, Lan Xichen asked them to join in, in order to broaden their knowledge. Wei Ying tried to refuse but Jiang Cheng clearly stated that this was Wei Ying's specialty. They lived close to the water and water ghouls were easy to expel.

On their way, Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng walked behind while Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian walked up ahead. Jiang Cheng told stories of the silly things Wei Ying did back at home. The Ghouls for instance were originally dangerous but Wei Ying found a way to domesticate them and use them for his advantage, especially when he had to swim in the water.

"Wangji, good thing we asked young master Wei to come along with us, it seems we're in good hands". Lan Zhan didn't answer his brother, instead he walked faster leaving them all behind. Wei Ying marveled at how thick faced this hypocrite could be.

With Lan Zhan gone, Wei Ying returned to his usual self and chatted with the others. They had to stay over at an inn for the night and continue their journey the next day.

After getting along quite well, Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen chose to share a room leaving the other pair to share one. Jiang Cheng had noticed Wei Ying had been acting weird around Lan Zhan recently, he felt Lan Zhan had punished him properly hence his good behavior. He couldn't afford to pass on a chance to make Wei Ying uncomfortable. Lan Xichen knew the both of them were nurturing feelings towards each other. Xichen and Jiang Cheng wanted both boys to stay together for totally different reasons.

Once they were alone, Lan Zhan's countenance changed. Wei Ying seriously started to suspect that he had multiple personalities.

"You've been acting all weird around me. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable the other day in the library. I was only doing what you asked me to".

"I wasn't uncomfortable", this wasn't a lie. "I just thought you'd detest such a thing. I should be the one apologizing to you. I'm sure it was your first time but I've done it countless times with both men and women so...", this was a lie and Lan Zhan knew.

"No need to lie to me. That was your first time, I could tell. Did it seem like it was my first time?"

Lan Zhan was indeed skilled. The thought that he wasn't Lan Zhan's first made Wei Ying surprised, surprised that the high and mighty Lan Zhan had had sex outside of marriage. There was also another feeling, he couldn't name the feeling in his heart but he badly wanted to duel with the others Lan Zhan had done it with. Wei Ying had thought he was going to be his first's first and they were going to be partners for life. Lan Zhan, that fucker had ruined it!

Lan Zhan noticed Wei Ying's silence. He had involuntarily held on to the hilt of his sword. Lan Zhan found his reaction somewhat satisfying. "Haha, I was just teasing. That was my first time, I'm just good at everything".
