Mission: Protect Xiao Zhan (Completed)

ARC 2: Started as a one night stand 3

Xiao Zhan was turning 30 this year and Yibo was restless. They had been together for 3 years now, this time around he actually got to spend time with Zhan as his boyfriend.

They both agreed not to date as long as Xiao Zhan had to lecture Yibo's class. Fate was indeed on his side and in the middle of the year, the staff placement was reshuffled and Xiao Zhan actually got the opportunity to choose different classes. He chose not to lecture the third- and fourth-year students. By doing so, he was able to freely date Yibo just a few months later.

They had been together since then and Zhan felt like Yibo was the one for him. He felt that way about his ex but this time, it was different and he could tell. Yibo was now done with school but he was yet to find a suitable job. One reason was that the offers he was getting required him to stay far from Xiao Zhan and he couldn't afford to. He kept these offers a secret from Xiao Zhan while he kept searching.

Zhan was turning 30 in a few weeks and Yibo knew a tragedy was approaching soon. He had been on edge since he met Zhan and the longer they were together, the more anxious he became. He drove Xiao Zhan to and from work every day just to make sure of his safety. The closer it got to Zhan's birthday, the more unreasonable Yibo started to act. He moved into Xiao Zhan's apartment after one long night of being unable to sleep. Zhan didn't mind but he felt there was more to Yibo's over protective attitude. He never allowed him go out on his own, he never allowed him stay by himself. One time, Xiao Zhan closed earlier than expected and was given a lift by his colleague. Yibo nagged him for days stating that until he turned 30, he had to get used to being babied.

At first, Xiao Zhan found his attitude cute but then it started to get annoying. Xiao Zhan's best friends; Yu Bin and Wang Zhuocheng came visiting all the way from Yiling city where he lived in the past.

Yibo returned home and found the house empty. When he left, Zhan said he had nowhere to go. He simply forgot to tell Yibo that he had to pick up his friends at the airport.

Once Yibo found out he wasn't home, he started to call his phone non-stop. Xiao Zhan was driving and he knew it was risky to talk on the phone while driving but to put Yibo's mind at rest, he picked up to inform Yibo he was driving but this action managed to irritate Yibo even more. He yelled from across the phone, his voice was loud and clear that the other occupants of the car heard their conversation.

"You're using a phone while driving? Do you know how risky that is? Why didn't you wait for me to return? Why didn't you ask me to pick your friends up on my way? Are you so bent on putting yourself in harm's way?"

To say Xiao Zhan was embarrassed was an understatement. His friends faces were also showing signs of embarrassment. They've heard so many good things about this person but Zhan never mentioned he was overbearing and controlling.

Xiao Zhan knew it would be pointless to argue with Yibo so he directly ended the call.

"A-Zhan, I'd be frank with you, this relationship you have with Yibo doesn't look healthy. You look choked up. Has he always been like this?", Yubin was sincerely worried for his friend.

Xiao Zhan instinctively tried to protect Yibo. "He's not always like this. He just became this way recently. Yes he likes accompanying me everywhere but it has become a little serious these days. He keeps saying I should listen to him until I turn 30. I don't find this pleasant but I feel he is dealing with some trauma. I intend to talk to him about it later".

"You should talk to him soon. He sounds like a nice person. No one is perfect, if he needs help, he should get one as soon as possible". Zhuocheng was not so nice but he couldn't bear to put his friend on the spot.

"Get help? The man simply sounds unreasonable. How dare he yell at A-Zhan like that? And Zhan, you're making excuses for him. What's so special about him anyway?"
