Liams POV
I awoke in the middle of the night to a humming outside.
Zoey was still wrapped in my arms. Carefully, I untwined myself from her.
Dried tears were left on my face. As much as I wanted to make new ones, I couldn't. I had cried myself to sleep and it seemed as if I was fresh out.
I decided to take a walk to clear my mind. My whole body hurt. With every inch I walked, my body weighed me down even more.
I sluggishly walked about the empty hallways in the hospital.
It was like a ghost town. Literally.
Not only were the hallways desolate, but I could FEEL the souls of people who died here all around me. The hairs on the back of my neck started to rise. I needed to leave. It was stifling in this hospital.
I couldn't leave Zoey for that long though. I wouldn't do that to her.
I decided to walk back to the only place that I felt comfortable in. The room with Zoey in it.
I spun around on my heal to commence walking back.
A small whimper escaped my lips when I ran right into a lady. Judging by her white lab coat she was a doctor.
When she lifted her head up I realized- She was OUR doctor. The one who told me my baby was dead.

"Sorry," I mumbled and kept walking as fast as I could away from her.
She was too quick though. Before I was able to get far enough away she grabbed my wrist and spun me around to face her.
Her green eyes looked pleading as she wracked her brain for words to say to me. She tilted her head down to look at the floor.
"Mr. Payne," She started. "I'm-I'm very sorry for your l-loss."
She stuttered.
Her hand was still on my wrist, keeping me still while she talked. I wanted her to let go.
Gaining confidence this time she said, "I stopped you here because I-I was hoping to get you alone. There's something you need to know."
I stood completely silent.
"Please. I'm worried about Zoey. There's a condition. It's called postpartum depression. Very common actually in women after they've had a baby."
Hesitantly she added,
"E-Even if their baby is still alive. Um- just watch out for her okay? It can make you do some stupid things. Trust me- I-I know."
Something about the way she said that made me think there was more to the story then just hearing crazy experiences. Like she knew first hand instead of second.
She released my hand.
And when she did there was a bottle of pills sitting in it. She lifted her face to lock eyes with me.
"These are anti-depressant pills for her that I prescribed. Give her one a day until they run out. It will last about three months."
"Th-thanks for letting me know." I said avoiding as much eye contact as possible.
I quickly started walking back to our room not bothering to say another word. I looked at the orange bottle in my hand, and hesitantly slid it into my pocket.

I walked in and Zoey was up. She was crying.
Her head snapped up when she noticed I was there.
"Liam! I thought you left me. Just like our baby girl. I thought you were never coming back."
Her sentences we short and spat out; the way she spoke when she was unhappy. Her features turned to anger while she started to blush.
"Don't EVER do that to me again!"
She crouched into a ball on her bed, wrapping her hands around her knees, and started crying again.
Quickly I walked over to her. To comfort her. I placed my hand on her arm.
She flinched at my touch, not expecting me. But with her blue eyes she peered up at me and stopped crying for a split-second. I had her attention.
I opened my mouth to speak.
"I would never leave you. Ever."
