"it's finally time to take back what was ours, and we're not giving up this time"

"I'm sorry, I'm not following what you're saying," I was in shock that The Leader wanted me to do this, I mean, it doesn't seem like something you would ask to someone who always shows up late for meetings.

"I want you to lead the mission, to take it back, with Dilan and Ava. I know you and Ava have history, but I think this will be good for both of you," The Leader exclaimed. Me and Ava were friends, but then she started to be mean to me and my friends, and the next thing I knew, our friendship was merely memories. I could hardly be in the same room as her, but leading a mission with her, I don't know how I could do it. "Please, Raven, you need to do this. All of us in this village need you to do this."

"Whatever, when do we leave?" I honestly didn't have any time for this (word), but I didn't have much choice.

"Here's the thing, you leave tomorrow," She looked at me, no emotion in her face, and I did the reasonable thing, I stormed out of the room. So, I had to go on a mission, or a quest I guess, with my best friend, and my enemy. The worst part of it, I knew Ava had a crush on Dilan. I thought this was going to be a killer quest, either I would die from humans or from Ava. This was going to be fun.

I turned into a wolf to get to Devin's faster. When I got to his house, I was immediately greeted with the smell of some fresh baked goods. I knocked on the door, and Devin came out to greet me. He let me in and I saw what caused the smell: bread, pies, cookies, and cakes. Devin's mom, Jaydyn, was a baker for the village, so the house always smells good when she tests new recipes.

After telling him about the quest, and that we were leaving tomorrow, his mom got a little upset and said he couldn't go, but that he didn't have a choice. It was either we leave, or we all die, and well, none of us wanted to die. I went back outside, and saw a free roaming red panda, which I knew had to be Ava. I turned into my wolf to scare her, but all it did was make her annoyed.

"As much as I don't want to admit it Ava, we need to go on a quest with Devin together," I told her. She looked at me, clearly annoyed that we would have to go together, she got happier when she realized Devin would be coming along. I then proceeded to tell her we probably won't be able to use our animal forms because a wolf, red panda, and a deer running around together might be suspicious, and we have to try to blend in as much.

I ran off without caring about her reaction. I remember when I used to have a crush on Devin, but that was a few years ago, now it's just an on running joke between us. Come to think of it, when I had the crush on him, that was when Ava started to hate me.

That's why she hates me. Because I had a crush on my best friend, and she was jealous. We never actually dated though, ever since I found out about that.

When I got home, I had thought about what I wanted to bring with me. I only had a backpack, so I put a few clothes, some snack bars, and some other necessities. I didn't know what else to bring, till I looked around my room, and saw the bear. It was from my mom, a week before she died. I know I'm too old for it, but I've had it for 14 years, I can't get rid of it now.

It wasn't much, just a simple golden brown color, with a thick white bracelet on it's right arm; a hospital bracelet. It was the one I had when I was three. I looked into a corner of the room, remembering everything that had happened for me to have the bear. I don't really remember much about my mom, I wish I had more memories of her. The only ones I have are all in the hospital, so it's not the best.

I went to my full length mirror, looking at myself. The scar on my arm was visible under my light, normally you couldn't see it, only if you knew it was there. I lifted up a bit of my shirt to see one of my main scars, one that ran from my right hip to the left side of my chest(insert edit photo).

I looked around my apartment one last time before I left, not knowing if it would be my last time here or not. The photo above my bed was a photo of me and Devin. I'm really hoping this mission doesn't ruin that, especially with Ava.
