Part 13

Harry took my hand, lacing his fingers with mine.

"Do you want me to come in with you, or wait outside?" He asked, tone sad, full of pity.

"Come with me please." I mumble, walking towards the doors of the hospital.

I took a deep breath, I could smell the undertone of bleach in the air.

"Can I help you?" The nurse behind the desk asked, giving me a friendly smile.

"Yes, I'm looking for Thomas Kelly room."

"Let me see, ah room 346, take the elevator to the 3rd floor."

"Thank you." I nod, heading to the elevator, Harry followed closely.

It didn't take me long to find the room. I noticed Doctors and nurses surrounded his hospital bed, attaching IV's, heart monitors and oxygen tanks to him.

Tom was standing off to side, holding a sobbing Lilly.

I let my eyes wonder the room while the crowd around my dad thinned out. An old TV set hangs from the ceiling.

A window giving me a view of the world below was just beneath the screen. In the corner are two chairs, frayed with wear and tear.

It was a typical hospital room, sparse and functiona.

"Where's mom?" I finally spoke, looking at Tom.

"She when to get coffee." He mumbled, never taking his eyes off of dad.

"I'm gonna go join her, give you two some time." Lilly quietly said, leaving me and Tom.

"Wha-what happen?" I asked, my throat tighten, at the sight of my dad. Not because he was in pain, because he looked so peaceful.

"He hasn't felt good for weeks, but he was out fixing the gate today. Had a heart attack right there, than a seizer in the ambulance. They put him in a medically induced coma."

My knee got week, but I made my way to his bedside, taking his hand in mine. he looked like he was sleep.

"It will be ok Jade," I nod, watching him leave from the corner of my eye.

Guilt filled me us I thought about how I barely talk to my dad in the last week. Who knows if I'll ever be able to talk to him again.

"Hey honey." My mom said, tears filled her eyes as I pulled her in for a hug. Not able to hold in my own tears anymore.

I spend a few hours with my family, fellow nurse and doctors came in ever now and than to say sorry, and check on my dad.

Lily and Tom left around 11pm both had to work in the morning.

"Jade you and Harry, can go back to the house get some sleep." my mom said, checking my dads iv.

I had totally forgotten about Harry, he hadn't come into the hospital room he was giving my family our time.

"Are you sure? I can stay the night if you need sleep."

"Honey, you know how many late nights I've had here." She gave me a sad smile, trying, but failing to lighten the mood.

But I just nod, giving her one last hug, before walking out to find a almost half asleep Harry in the hall.

"How is he?" He asked jumping off his chair the moment he saw me.

"They put him into a medically induced coma."

"I'm so sorry." He whispered, putting his arm around me.

"It's ok. My mom said we can spend the night at my house, if you want."

He only nodded, taking my hand in his, leading me toward the elevator.

Because my mom worked as a nurse, our house was close to the hospital.

Thank god, to I didn't realize how tried I was till I walked in the door.

"I'll go get you some of Toms' clothes to change into." I said over my shoulder, jogging up the stairs.

I grabbed a random shirt and a part of sweats, walking back to my room to find Harry asleep on my bed already. I couldn't help but giggle a little at how cute he looked.

I stripped of my clothing changing into a oversized shirt, not even caring about pants right now.

I carefully crawled over Harry's body to get to my side of the bed.

"You're so beautiful and smart, I like you Jade," Harry whispered, kissing the top of my head.

"I like you too."

"No I like you. When I told you we were just friends, I lied I want more." He put his arms around me, pulling me close.

"I want to more too,but I can't do this right now." I admit, tracing little shapes in his arm.

"I understand it's ok, I can wait for you."

I took a deep breath,letting my body relax against his. Drifting off to sleep in Harry's arms.
