At first, Parker couldn't believe what he was seeing. In front of him was a giant metal cross. Two metallic pythons swirled around the center of the cross. Their heads meeting in the at the top. And sitting in front of the cross a marble chair was a woman. At first her head was facing towards the ground, but as Parker and Aurora approached her, she looked up to meet their gaze.
"Hello Poseidon. Athena." The woman said, looking at each of them.
"Uh, hey. Well, you clearly know who we are but who are you?" Parker asks, looking at the woman's wrist, which were bound by some kind of rope.
"She is the Oracle of Delphi." Aurora responded, seemingly unphased.
"Wait what? This is the oracle? She looks around our age." Parker notes with confusion. He walks over to the rope and tries to remove it, but it burns him upon contact. Parker backs up and shakes his hand in frustration. "What the hell?"
"It is a curse placed by Apollo," The oracle says, "Only he can remove it."
"isn't that swell." Parker says, stepping back.
"You come to ask about Poseidon's temple?"
"Yes, we do." Aurora says. "How do we get through the barrier?"
"Hold on," Parker says, "How do you know we came to ask about my temple?"
"I am cursed to know the futures of anyone who comes to see me."
"Ok, but who cursed you?"
"Apollo."
"Did you not hear her the first time?" Aurora asks, frustration creeping into her eyes.
Parker looks shocked. "Was that sass? Good to know I'm rubbing off on you." He turns back to the oracle and nods his head. "Continue."
"In order to breach the barrier, you must humble yourself and seek that which is pure energy."
"what?" Parker asks, confused by the riddle. "Why can't you just tell me what I have to do."
"She only speaks in cryptic messages." Aurora says, curiously studying the woman.
"That's fucking stupid. Ok, all knowing oracle. What can you tell us about the cycle?"
Aurora looks at the oracle, expecting nothing useful to come out of her mouth.
"The curse was created by one who feared losing their power. The gods were destined to fail time and time again for all eternity."
"You guys should become motivational speakers." Parker says, turning to Aurora. "You guys are amazing at babbling out bullshit."
"how do we end the cycle?" Aurora asks, completely ignoring Parker's quip.
"In order to end the cycle, you must send a god to the place where time and space know no bounds."
"I'm getting sick of this fortune cookie shit. Just tell us how!" Parker yells.
"There is no use getting upset. She cannot control what she says and how." Aurora says, turning to head out the room.
"Hold on, we don't know anything yet. Where are you going?" Parker asks, looking at oracle who is looking back at him with a dead expression. He raises his eyebrows in concern and leaves the room to catch up with Aurora in the hall. "Hey hold up."
Aurora looks at Parker.
"I understand that she can't just straight up tell us, but I think there are still some things we need to know about." Parker says.
