Chapter Six - The Wolves

Lillian's POV

" This is a lot to come to terms with but I understand, even though somewhat implicitly, that I was born with these gifts for a purpose", I said glancing at Nikolai. He offered me a small smile and turned to Harper asking, "Harp, do you recall anything at all about the prophecy? I vaguely remember my parents speaking about it when I was just a child and although it seemed irrelevant to me as a child, they looked quite serious". Harper ran her fingers through her hair and closed her eyes for a moment. She then said abruptly, "I've got an idea. If we can all join hands in a circle, I can try to pull our subconscious memories about the prophecy from our parents' discussions we picked up in passing".

I was in awe. I was more than willing to give it a try but was blown away that anything like that could be done. Then Alexei spoke and further blew my mind. "I'll try to project Harper's thoughts to everyone while we're in the circle so we can all try to make sense of it together". They looked at me to ask if I would be okay with this but all started chuckling instead at my expression. I guess mouthing 'wow' and staring at Harper and Alexei with googly eyes would constitute as being funny.

When we settled down, we joined hands standing and formed a circle. Harper then asked everyone to remain calm and clear their minds. It wasn't long before voices and images started popping into our minds. Then, I started hearing the snippets of conversations from different voices coming together to form entire sentences and I could even hear my parents voices. I could see an old scroll, through different eyes, from different angles. It read:

'Throughout millennia from whence the souls gather,
Three pairs against an army must go,
Forces of great against thine nations for death of mankind rather,
Three pairs taketh the blow.

The bloodthirsty, the wolves, the ones of white magic,
The one of the six whose heart is alight of that of the Phoenix,
Shalt put to rest the darkest of shadows,
Thence never for mankind to suffer their throes.'

We all looked at each other and Nikolai gestured for everyone to take a seat while he stooped and lit the fireplace. Everyone sat in silence for a few minutes until Jade spoke. " We already know the prophecy is about the six of us and we gather we are to save mankind from an army of some sort, but there are parts I do not understand." Alexei then said, "we all have elders in our realms, either on the councils or otherwise, we need to pay them some visits. We already suspect dark magic or something sinister is behind the deaths of our previous kings and queens, then this prophecy can very well be legit and be at our heels already. "

Nikolai stood up and prodded the fire slightly, causing a few sparks to rise up crackling , he then spun around abruptly to look at me." We've just found each other, you barely know us, yet you're already thrown into some world saving war with us. Surely you must think this is all madness?" He released a loud sigh and came back to sit next to me. I held his cool hand in my warm smaller hand and looked him in the eyes. He seemed taken aback. I glanced around at everyone else and they all seemed troubled, much to my dismay.

" The thing is, I've known you all for a short period of time but I strangely feel comfortable with you. I have felt out of place for my entire life but I feel as though I belong here. I've always been skeptical of people and have never trusted people easily, yet I find myself very trusting of you. Maybe I'm yet to freak out about all this but as of now, I'm very honored to be a part of your circle and I embrace whatever is expected of me".

I looked at them and they all seemed pleased and somewhat proud. Nikolai locked his cerulean eyes with my hazel eyes and said, "I truly could not ask for a more beautiful soul of a beloved, I'm really bursting with pride at your humility for someone who is towering with abilities. I am happy. I am complete".
