You stepped out of his agency. Your shoulders visibly slumped as you couldn't stop thinking about the fact whether he genuinely became your friend or was it an 'out of pity' gesture. As much as you didn't want to believe the words of someone like Hinako, but still, her words kept circling in your mind.
"Karen!" You heard a female call you. You turned around and saw pro hero Pinky waving at you.
"Hey! Ashido!" You replied as she approached you.
"Went to meet your boyfriend?" Mina asked. Your eyes widened at her question.
"My what?" You asked almost choking.
"Oh! Come on, Karen. It's not a secret that you are into Todoroki. Everyone except him knows that," She said, your cheeks immediately tinted in a lighter shade of pink as soon as you heard her comment. It was indeed obvious that you were into him. The way you stared at him, there was always a different shine in your eyes whenever you looked at him. His presence made you feel giddy and when he was not around he would always somehow make his way into your thoughts.
"He's not my boyfriend, Ashido," You said.
"Yeah, but your blush is telling me otherwise. Look, you two have been close for quite a long time now. Why don't you ask him out? I mean I don't know what's going on inside Todoroki's head since he has always been the type who is hard to read. But, I do see how relaxed he always is around you. I think you two should give it a try and start dating," She said. You couldn't help but be happy over the fact that you two will date someday but again Hinako's words played in your mind.
"I'm... I don't know," I said with a sigh. She gave you a concerned look.
"Let's go to the cafe and talk about it. What do you say?" She asked. You nodded.
When you reached the nearby cafe, you got yourselves coffees and pastries as you both took seats. You told her what happened back at Shoto's agency, your not very good encounter with his assistant.
"Karen, it shows she's jealous of you. You don't have to take her words that seriously," Mina said.
"I know that but, I still feel like Shoto is being friends with me out of the pity," You said.
"You know that's not true. Why do you think that?" She asked.
"Well, back then when I didn't have friends. I did kind of told Shoto that I don't have friends, and he suggested that he would be my friend. I didn't think much about it back then. But, now when Hinako mentioned it, I can't help but think what if I'm forcing my friendship on him. Maybe he does deserve someone better," You said with a sad smile.
"Listen, sweetie, Todoroki is not the type who would be friends with someone out of pity. I'm sure, he is your friends because he wants to be your friend. I've known him for years now, so I can guarantee you this much," She said. Before you could say anything further her mobile started to ring.
"Give me a minute," She said and you nodded. She got up and walked out of the cafe to talk on call.
When she got back she had a big grin on her face as she sat in her seat."Looks like something good happened," You said getting curious to know about the reason behind her smile.
"There's a surprise for you," She said with a smile. You looked at her confused.
"Surprise?" You asked.
"You'll see when it arrives," She said shrugging her big smile still plastered on her face.
