TW: Fighting, mean words used.

Yelling. That was what woke her up. She tried to go back to sleep, but the yelling wouldn't stop. The five year old realized that it was morning, so she decided to give up and see what all the yelling was about. She opened the door to her room and realized the yelling was coming from her parents bedroom.

Her dad was yelling while her mom and little brother, age two, were sitting on the bed. She hated yelling. She decided it was up to her to stop the fighting. She headed into the room and tugged on her dad's pant leg.

"Daddy, I love you!" She smiled and waited for her dad to say it back. After all, he always did! She felt so smart. She couldn't wait for her mom and brother to thank her and for them to all stop fighting!

"SHUT UP" Her father yelled. She couldn't believe it! She tried to hold back her tears, but she couldn't... She ran over to her mom and cowered behind her. Her father wouldn't stop yelling! She was so shocked it didn't work that she couldn't even do anything but stare at her father.

She watched in terror as he broke the vacuum. She had never felt so scared in her life. And how could this be happening? She had always been a daddy's girl, but right now she wanted to be as far away from her father as possible.

This was the final event that led up to her parents divorce.
