𝐊𝐈𝐘𝐎𝐎𝐌𝐈 𝐒𝐀𝐊𝐔𝐒𝐀 disliked the fact that he had to spend his training period thinking about one girl. He didn't think it had anything linked to romance. He was just confused, and it bothered him so much that he couldn't pour 100% of his mind and energy into his volleyball training.
Surely, if the conversation he had with Yasumi Junko hadn't happened, his mind wouldn't be so cloudy and occupied. Komori noticed his cousin's unusual temper too, finding his attitude quite stingy than usual. But even if Komori tried to talk to him, Sakusa would plainly just ignore him.
Sakusa didn't really understand her reaction, more so did he want to accept it. He and Yasumi had been friends ever since middle school, they both had a similar interest which was maintaining their academics. This was the one thing that carried their whole friendship from the very start.
Albeit they weren't that close, he still considered his friendship with her to be something special, and for it to easily vanish because of one loss really makes him upset. The entire time he walked out of Itachiyama's campus to head home, various ideas of trying to make up with Yasumi were what flooded his mind.
He walked out of school that evening and the sun was already nowhere to be found, he was looking like his usual self; facemask on, jacket wrapping his body, and staying away from people like a cat.
He minded his own business and bothered no one. Until his eyes suddenly caught sight of the very girl that's been indirectly bothering him the entire afternoon. Yasumi was standing by the sidewalk, hugging herself as the cold winter wind blew strongly. He raised an eyebrow as he observed that she was shaking, seeing that she didn't wear much layers other than a scarf.
It annoyed him a little seeing her in that position, but he made no hesitation whatsoever to approach her even how awkward their last meeting was. After all, he didn't want her to freeze and he knew her enough for him to let her borrow his stuff.
"It's cold, why didn't you bring a coat?" He strikes up a conversation, to which she responded. "Why would you care?"
Sakusa sighed and pretended like she didn't snark at him. He just handed out his jacket that he took off earlier for her to use. "If you're still mad at me, then see me as a stranger kind enough to lend you his jacket."
Yasumi blinked her eyes at him and smiled with a sad expression. She knew him, and to think he'd do something so far as letting other people use his stuff, she knew he put a lot of mind into the decision. So she simply nodded and politely wore it, letting it wrap around her upper body. She can feel the warmth he left to it, and it made her sigh.
"Sorry for slapping you earlier." She suddenly apologizes, making the atmosphere stuffy. Now that she mentions it, Sakusa started to overthink himself again about certain issues he had himself. But Yasumi laughed. "Unfortunately, my hands were clean when it happened. I would have loved it if my hand stunk that time I slapped you."
The boy rolled his eyes, he clicked his tongue as if he was annoyed with her. But he really wasn't, nothing she does to him annoys him unless it had anything to do with her well-being. "I'm still trying to understand what you meant earlier, though."
"Ah, about that," Yasumi rubbed the temple of her forehead and sighed. She glanced from afar and watched as a car was slowly approaching the sidewalk and them. "I wish I could've said it properly, but I couldn't control my emotions."
"What are you saying? I still don't understand." He replied, but Yasumi just ignored him. She didn't pay much attention to him the moment a black car stopped in front of them, and up until after she opened the car door did she answer him.
"Let's pretend we're in middle school again, okay? We're no longer friends, Sakusa." She claimed, looking back into his eyes as she sat inside the car. "From now on, we'll be rivals again."
The car swept before him and he was left all alone on that sidewalk. He couldn't believe what she said. But after a few moments of thinking, the thrill of having the likes of Yasumi Junko challenge him for everything like back in the days when they were only eleven, and making everything into a competition made him chuckle.
Perhaps he thought that this was another opportunity for him to win her back again. "Fine, if that's what you want, Junko."
dis is basically rivals to friends to rivals to lovers LOL
