𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄had she expected such a moment to happen, the day she would lose herself truly was the day she would stand behind someone taking her place. Unfortunately for her, it's happening.
"Kiyoomi...?" Her blank eyes stared at his back, she watched another contestant for the first time in her life win as the champion while having her as a rival. It was Japan's National Academic Quiz Tournament, and she didn't win.
Yasumi's inside started to tighten, she stayed still as loud cheers and claps echoed throughout the entire gymnasium. Fully knowing all of it wasn't for her. Her feet were frozen to the ground, and her heart wanted to stop at that moment, as she stared at the tall figure in front of her, her body filled with jealousy.
How could he? After all, she's done for him as his friend, Yasumi never expected he'd do something as absurd as take over everything she's ever wanted and needed. And yet he did.
"Congratulation, Sakusa-san!" Yasumi hears the words that should have been directed towards her, she was brimming with jealousy hearing his name come out of the ambassador.
The crowd finally started to hush, but hundreds of clutter still went on as the awarding ended. Yasumi didn't move a limb.
She was shaking severely as people started to scatter, and the other people who stood beside her started to walk away from her as the event ended.
She couldn't bare to move her eyesight from her shivering hands. Yasumi was afraid that the moment she'd do so, she would see the looks of her parent's disappointment.
Yasumi just lost, she knew this loss would cost her the life she built for herself and for validation.
"What is happening?" She mumbled, expression still unchanged. A few seconds passed by, and unexpectedly, a tall lean shadow towered over her whom she expected no less to be him.
"Uhm, Yasumi-san," Kiyoomi spoke softly, wanting to get the girl's attention which he failed to do a couple of times.
Whatsoever, he was clueless about what she was feeling, and he didn't really have a chance to notice it.
"What?" Yasumi sharply asked. "What do you need?"
"Oh, I was wondering if both of us could... Uh," He spoke as if it was a mere whisper.
"Congrats, by the way. You really threw yourself off, huh?" Sakusa was cut off from trying to speak and Yasumi took over the conversation. "You're the first to put me down. You know, as first runner-up."
