Authors Note: thank you for your interest in my fanfiction! It means a lot. Before we get into it, I just want to let you know that if dialogue is in italic, that means that it is being spoken in Saidi Arabic. Y/N lives in Aswan, Egypt.

A large tremor woke you up from your sleep. You could hear your family roaring into chaos above you.

They had moved you in the small closet downstairs a few years back for reasons you don't like remembering.

You groaned and turned on your hard cot, it creaked. Dust dropped from the ceiling as another tremor shook the house. At first what came to your mind was your family fighting above you again, nothing unusual.

But that theory was debunked when you heard screaming outside your house. A larger tremor shook your house. This time making a board from your ceiling come unhinged.

You shot up from your bed to investigate.

"They're coming!"

"Run!"

Grabbing some dirty clothes, you ran outside on the hot sand. Your eyes widened at the city crumbling before you.

Aswan was being destroyed by...golden people?

You squinted your eyes as you tried to get a better look at the attackers who were flying around on golden boats in the air. If they weren't attacking, they'd look like something of a benevolent nature.

"Help!"

Your focus snapped to a woman who was crushed under some rubble. You fumble in your pockets to find a torn black piece of fabric.

Turning to put the mask on, so no one would see, you then ran over to the woman. A plume of dirt rolled down the sandy street you stood on.

"Please! I...cant...breathe!" The woman coughed from under the debris. The ground she was on was steep, so you had to skate down the rock.

You located the woman and concentrated. You looked inward, searching for your gift. When you felt as if you woken it, your eyes glowed orange.

The rubble crushing the woman lifted above her and was thrown across the street to block the clouds of dirt that would roll across the hot sand.

You leaned forward and offered your hand to the woman as she got up. "Take my hand." You said calmly and she did just so, you used your arm to hoist her up to your level.

"Thank you but I think my ribs are broken." She coughed.

You nodded and shouted for a medic into the sandy void  but no one came. "Stay here." You spoke in a deep voice and she nodded.

She called from behind you when you turned. "Sir? What is your name?"

Your heart fluttered. You always tried your best to have a deeper voice to sound more masculine and it worked all the time. That was one of the reasons why becoming a masked vigilante was so rewarding. Validation of your gender.

However, you never chose a name for yourself because you were too busy either saving people with your gift or hiding from your so called family.

So you continued walking away, pretending not to have heard her. You searched for a medic out in the street, but the wind was getting worse, dust and dirt hit your face and would temporarily blind you every now and then.
