Appearance: Ayumi has waist-length black hair with a stylish messy fringe. It is parted evenly but the left side is clipped up at the side of her head with three plain gold clips.
Her hair has gradient indigo ends. She has unusual pale blue eyes ringed with violet that appear rather like Misaki's.
In season 1, she wears the Miyaji Academy uniform with the tie loose, jacket unbuttoned, and with a rather long skirt (notably missing the slit of her cousin's)
For leisure, she is seen to wear a white tee shirt with a pattern of blue, violet and magenta patterned Sakura blossoms over flared jean shorts paired with black sneakers and a black hoodie tied around her waist.
In season 2, she wears a charcoal turtleneck over a violet pleated skirt, stockings, and dove grey ankle boots under a hooded black checked coat during winter.
In Singapore, she wears her jean shorts paired with a white tee shirt tucked into the shorts with a merlion pattern on it.
In season 3, she is again depicted in the Miyaji Academy uniform, with her wearing a red scarf over her turtleneck and a pale grey skirt and boots as leisure. Notable that this happens around the time Kai's own red scarf disappears from his outfit.
In Vanguard G and GIRS Crisis, she is shown in a white tee shirt knee length figure fitting dress with pale blue pockets, a pale blue puppy motif, and black sports sandals. She also carries a communis blue patchwork bag.

Personality: Ayumi hardly ever participates in tournament fights and is generally seen as a dark horse, not unlike Miwa Taishi. While she is an official member of Asteroid and defeats players like her teammates on a regular basis, she only takes the field for tournaments when forced to or when extremely bored.
This is later shown to be due to her extreme passion towards vanguard which she dislikes to display on a regular basis, being somewhat of a restrained character when it comes to her public image.
As the shop assistant, she maintains a polite and mature personality front that Izaki commented on at first, saying that she was able to resolve disputes with ease and grace. At school however, she was known as a cold, responsible and blunt girl. This was revealed to be something she was happy about, showing one of her natural tendencies to be alone.
She's stated that she's as comfortable alone as with her best friends.
Her image is completely different with her best friends and teammates of Asteroid. As seen when she concurrently sneaks off during practice to buy food or write her book, she's a lazy and unpredictable lady. Like Ren, she is a bit of an airhead and enjoys pranking and teasing the team, especially Toshiki Kai.
She is shown to be a workaholic when it comes to her writing as she is an internationally renowned writer of three book series, getting to the point where she collapsed out of exhaustion and Toshiki imposed a limit on her work.
She gets extremely competitive during Vanguard, however believing in a mature and respectful game, if she loses she swallows down all feelings to admit defeat and try again. Albeit still finding it humiliating.
Ayumi is revealed to tease people as a way to understand and give herself higher emotional ground, getting uncomfortable if unexpected emotions surface around her to the point where she runs off or turns around.
She never thinks before she acts in daily life, intuitively going along with whatever impulses she feels. Toshiki has stated that if her luck stat were not so high, this would fail miserably.
She believes in the healing power of animal therapy, keeping three dogs.
Her Vanguard intensity is something that stretches over to her dog care, as she has stated her dogs are life to her.
Interestingly, she is a skilled cook, fluent in English and Chinese, and familiar with Singapore having stayed there as a child.
When she met Team Asteroid again, they thought that she did not remember them as she displayed unfamiliarity with them. After through questioning, they realised she had pictured them as kids and did not recognise them since they had grown up, however she seemed to label them as animals and when shown their old clothes, she was shocked, thinking that they had murdered and skinned the animals she remembered for their coats.
They passed it off as having evolved.
She often has trouble pronouncing and remembering names, usually adding a kitty to the back or only saying part of the name. This has been revealed to be one of the annoying habits she built up after a while and it is voluntary.

Biography:
She is Misaki's cousin and Shin's elder sister's daughter. From birth till grade 6, she was brought up in Singapore. However, when her parents went back to Japan due to work, she transferred to Toshiki Kai, Tetsu Shinjou, and Ren Suzagamori's junior high school.
Since she was a longtime Cardfighter, she decided to look into the Cardfight Club after she transferred. After defeating Tetsu and Ren and nearly defeating Kai, she was inducted into the club by Ren, becoming very close to the three of them for the two years she was in the club.
Unfortunately, around the year before Ren got PsyQualia, her parents died in a gas leak and she was brought to live with Shinemon Nitta and Misaki Tokura.
She was given an id bracelet/friendship bracelet from Asteroid as a leaving present, whereupon she presented Ren and Tetsu with cards and Toshiki Kai with a cat that he named Ayumi Kitty.
After leaving, she became famous over the globe for her writing and entered the prestigious Miyaji Academy with a literature scholarship, helping out at Card Capital as a part time worker.
She also adopted three dogs. One, Rouga Puppy, was a welcome present from Misaki and Shin when she first came to live with them. Two were from an adoption shelter she visited on a book tour.

Trivia:
- she is comfortable using both Shadow Paladin and Genesis because of her connection to both Kurahaeru and Ilyse.
- she shows confidence in the ability to pull critical triggers in the twin drive as she almost always pulls 2, leading some to think that she may be the reincarnation of Darkside Trumpeter whom she often jokes about.
- she often seems to address an unseen audience and may have a hidden ability to break the fourth wall as seen when she punches Ren and the screen cracks.
