Bani was panting heavily, sweat beads were forming on her forehead. She woke up feeling weak and looked to her right where Rehan was sleeping peacefully. She looked to her left and saw that the clock by the large window read 12:20 AM. The moon was in its full glory and scales started to appear on her body.

B: Ah!
Bani quickly bought her fist to her mouth. She did not want to wake Rehan up. Clutching the bed frame, she got up and moved out of the room but did not go very far as she started to feel dizzy in the hall. She tried holding the small table for support but ended up breaking the vase kept on it.
Mayuri was watching a film on her phone when she thought she heard some noise. Pulling out her earphones, she ran to the hall and saw Bani on the floor.
M: Bani!! Ye kya hua hai tumhe? Are you okay?
B: Aaj- (pants) aaj meri kechuli badalne ki raat hai..
Bani was breathing heavily. Mayuri helped her to stand and made her sit on the couch. Making sure she sat comfortably, Mayuri asked why it was this painful.
B: Weakness to hoti hai mujhe kechuli badalne ke time... pr pata nahi kyu is baar dard bohot zyada hi ho raha hai..Maybe because it is really cold today. Hum nag-naagino ko thand zyada bardash nahi hoti, upar ne aaj mai kechuli bhi badal rahi hoon..
M: Ho skta hai...tum rest kro...Kuch bhi chahiye to mujhe kehna..
Bani laid down on the couch. Her scales were becoming more and more prominent. Slowly and painfully, she turned to a naagin and her skin began to shed. Mayuri closed all the windows to prevent the cold air from entering the house and bought warm blankets for Bani. Somehow the night passed.
Somewhere in the jungles, a man reported to his boss.
