Chapter 1: Vampire cheerleaders, Blackmail, and Murder poses

A/N: Just a reminder,  the chapter is taking place around six months after the final battle against Gaea so the time skip from the last chapter is about five years and six months. I know it's a bit of a long one but I really wanted to move onto when the actual story line begins and I just didn't see her fitting anywhere for the Prophecy of the 7 and the final battle would've taken so long to write. So far Astraea has just started her journey as a hero and has mainly been working with her aunt Diana and worked Star City with Oliver for a few months prior to her and Diana moving to Gotham. She has already finished her training with the Amazons of Themyscira and the Amazons that Hylla runs. She has also been given training by the Huntresses, Diana, and Ollie. Yes this is short, and no not every chapter is going to be this short. I just needed to get a chapter out and wanted a lot more stuff to happen in the next chapter instead of this one. Ok I think that's everything so lets get right into it!

Astraea POV

My sword clanged against the metal leg of an empousai as we fought in some back alley of Gotham. The empousai was getting annoyed that I just wouldn't die yet and started screeching about us demigods being annoying little brats. I think her name was Kelli or something and she wore a tattered cheerleading uniform, like she was coming back from the pep rally and had gotten mugged. I had noticed her tailing me on my way home and made my way into an alley to avoid being seen by civilians. We had been fighting for a while now and I was getting tired, so I decided to end the fight quickly before I got too sloppy and got hurt. So I quickly lifted my sword above my head and waited for her to go for the opening before I stabbed her with my knife. She had been too focused on my sword in my left hand that she didn't think to look at my right. She exploded into golden dust and I grimaced seeing it get all over my new boots. "Dam it" I said "these are new! Do monsters have any idea how hard it is to get monster dust off leather?!" I quickly brought out my wings,concealed myself using my magic, and flew home to avoid being asked questions on why I looked like I had gotten in a fight with Tinkerbell again (don't ask, the people of Gotham are weird). 

Once I got home I showered to wash away all the monster dust and started on my homework. Twenty minutes later I sat there with my head down on my desk. "Why is math so hard?" I asked myself. "Because you don't pay attention in class" a voice said. I was surprised I had gotten an answer and looked up to see an IM. In the message there was a boy with shaggy black hair, warm brown eyes, and a teasing smirk on his face. "Nico!" I shouted excitedly,  "How are you? How's Will? How's camp? When are you coming to visit me?" I fired off questions rapidly, wanting to know six different things at once. "Raea! Breathe!" he exclaimed, "I'm doing better, the nightmares have gotten less frequent, Will is fine, a little swamped with campers asking for melatonin but fine nonetheless, camp is almost done being rebuilt and I've even redesigned the Hades and Artemis cabins for us, and as for when I'm visiting... well you can expect me in three” ''Three what?" "Three....two....one." He appeared right in front of me, sitting on my desk and I screeched, scooching back and falling out of my chair in the process. Somehow I ended up laying flat out, like the bodies from murder scenes in movies. I had one arm up and one leg bent. He laughed at my predicament and helped me up from the floor while trying not to fall over himself from how hard he was laughing. "Don't scare me like that!" "Or what Star?" "Or I'll tell Will about that time I convinced you and Percy it would be a good idea to go down Half-Blood hill in a laundry basket duct taped to a skateboard and --" "Ok! Ok! I'll stop! .... blackmailer" "Thank you I take my job as a blackmailer very seriously!" I say with a smile. "Straea are you here?!" I heard my aunt yell and quickly responded, "Yeah I'm in here! So is death breath!" There was a pause then a set of footsteps came barreling down the hall. Aunt Diana slammed my door open so hard it almost came off the hinges. She stopped for a second and looked around before spying Nico. I saw her eyes light up and suddenly she was hugging him so hard I thought she was squeezing his soul out of his body. "Diana,"Nico rasped out,"I need to breathe." She released him with a sheepish smile and asked him how he was doing and how Will was doing. As he went to respond, Diana's phone rang. She checked who it was and gave us an apologetic look before taking the call. "This is Diana," she answered. There was a muffled voice coming from the phone for a few moments before Diana responded back to whoever was on the other end of the line. As she was on the phone I looked at the time and noticed  that it was almost time for me to go on patrol. So I packed up my math homework, resolving to finish it tomorrow night and just take the two points off for it being late, before walking into my closet to get my suit, not exactly the best place to keep my suit but I concealed it with my magic so nobody would know it was there. I put it on inside the closet as I heard Diana say goodbye to whoever was on the phone before walking back out. Diana had an excited look on his face while Nico was laying face down on my bed snoring. "What was that about, and why do you look so excited?" I asked as I yanked Nico's shoes off and pulled a blanket over him. "Well you know how you said that you missed being part of a team like you were with the huntresses?" Diana said. I responded with a hesitant "yeah" while I sat down in my desk chair. I had left the hunt a couple of years ago after finishing my training with Hylla. "Well Batman was looking for another super to help train the YJ team and I mentioned that I had a friend who might be interested in training them. He told me that he would need proof of your skill to judge if you were good enough for the team–” ''Is that why you asked me to wear my suit and video taped my training last week?" I asked. "Yes that's why, anyways he watched the tape and had one of his friends follow you while you patrolled--" "I know, I've already met Robin. He wasn't very good about staying hidden, I called him out on tailing me the first night he started. I figured Bats wanted to figure out who "Phantom" was and if they were going to be good or bad for Gotham, considering I just started here after working with Ollie for a while." She gave me a look,silently asking me to let her finish talking before continuing. "Anyways, that was him on the phone. He said that since both Ollie and I vouched for you and he was ok with the amount of skill you possess you could join the team as their trainer!" She finished with a smile. I stared at her for a couple of seconds to let the fact that I was now going to be in charge of training people that were the same age group as me, before I smiled and asked when I would start. She told me that we would go and meet the team tomorrow after school and that she would be picking me up instead of me walking home. I just nodded and told her that I would be back in a couple of hours before I climbed out the window and left for patrol.

    The next day went by so slowly that I thought I had gained 20 years by the time it was over! As soon as the last bell rang I was running out the door, quickly saying goodbye to my friends before bolting down the front steps of Gotham Academy towards Diana's car. As soon as I got in the car she left the car line and drove home like she was taking part in grand theft auto, needless to say a drive that usually took 30 minutes only took 15 and I was screaming the entire time. I ran through the lobby, only stopping to greet our door man Stan, before heading into the elevator. I got off the elevator and continued to run down the hall to our apartment. Once in the apartment, I practically catapulted my backpack onto the couch before heading into my room to change into my suit. I threw a long trench coat over it thankful that it was the middle of winter so it wouldn't look too suspicious, and put my mask in one of the pockets before heading back down to the street. Diana and I walked for a while before she turned down an alleyway and told me to put my mask on while she started pressing random bricks on the wall. I did as told when suddenly a swirling blue-ish white vortex opened up. She told me to leave the coat here and then to follow her into the vortex. I took off my jacket and concealed it before we stepped into the portal, realizing that it was a Zeta Tube as I did.

   As we stepped out of the vortex I heard a computerized voice call out Diana's super hero name and number along with "guest" and a number. I looked around and realized that we were in a carved out cave inside a mountain, cool. There were also several people in the room. There was of course Batman and Robin along with five other teens and Ollie. There were two girls and three boys. One girl had red hair and green skin and she was wearing a blue skirt with a white and red top and blue boots. The other girl had long blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail and dark brown eyes. She wore a green suit with an arrow head insignia across her chest and had a bow and quiver on her back. She reminded me of Ollie and I realized that she must be Artemis which would make the other girl Miss Martian. Two of the boys stood further away, one had darker skin with a blond buzz cut and blue eyes. He was wearing a red and black tank top and navy blue pants with a belt that had Aquaman's symbol. The other boy had lighter skin with black hair and blue eyes. He wore a black t-shirt with Superman's symbol on it and a pair of jeans with black combat boots. They must be Aqualad and Superboy, which would make the ginger haired boy talking to Artemis Kid Flash. He had red hair and green eyes and wore a yellow suit which had a red lightning bolt across his chest, red pants and yellow boots. "Alright team" Batman started " this is Phantom, she's going to be your new trainer!" There was a moment of shock before everyone except for Diana, Bruce, Ollie, and Robin looked at me and yelled "WHAT?!" I have a feeling that this is gonna be interesting.
