A year had passed since I had been attacked by the bobcat. A scar passed along my face, starting at my right eye and ending under my chin. It was gruesome in the beginning, but soon even the humans learned to ignore it. I spent most of my human time in school with Kyr-who spent his time hitting on me-and his pack. We bonded quite well, as did our packs. Lonus was a proud hunter with skills he was practically born with. Silleca showed promise, but yet slow to learn the skills needed as a wolf. She was smart, don't get me wrong, but she didn't learn quickly. Kinteera had told me several times to exile her or make her an Omega, but she was too young to determine that yet. Osiris and Klani-a male from Cloud Pack-were getting a bit too familiar with each other. I had met all of the other pack members separately and individuallly-the males were Kyr, Klani, Yumus, and Deriun; the females were Rainus, Syndrii, and Hobrei-with no Omegas. Deriun was the Beta, and Yumus was the youngest and newest. We had found no new younglings in our orphanage room, sadly enough. I wondered when I would be able to see the Monarch. Every Alpha sees them at least once in their life. They come to you, not the other way around.
I was padding by the stream with Kinteera and Silleca. Silleca was 7, but she was too distracted to properly teach. We heard a splash by the stream, and we both turned to see Silleca in the stream, gazing at the stream with her bright green eyes. Kinteera sighed and glared at me as if he was telling me what to do. I shouted "Silleca! Get out of the stream!". She let out a hyena laugh and darted away. "Well, are you going after her?" Kinteera commented. I shook my head, sometimes you needed to stop dealing with people and let them run around for a bit. "She knows where the cabin is." I claimed. We both took down a black duiker within the hour and returned to the cabin to see Kyr, Rainus, and Klani chatting away on the sofa with the rest of my pack. It was a common sight nowadays. Lonus stood up when he heard us enter. "Where's Sillica?" he questioned. He was a brother to her, considering they came out of the orphanage at the same time on the same day. "She ran off" Kinteera breathed, tired of carrying the black duiker back to the cabin. He dropped it on the table and sat by the bar. Lonus shook his head "And you didn't follow her!?" He boomed. "No, we didn't. Calm your temper, Lonus. She knows her way back, and if she doesn't come back, then maybe she was never fit for the life." Lonus stopped speaking then when I gave him a silencing stare. Kyr congratulated me on the kill, and I walked off to be alone-even for a minute. I heard the door to my room open to see Kyr enter. He closed the door behind him and sat down on my bed beside me. "What's wrong, Enai?" I shrugged "Nothing... I just needed to be alone." I whispered. Somehow my voice wasn't up to shape at the moment. "You know, when I first assked to you be my mate, I camme upon you too quickly. I care a lot about you, you must realize that." He explained. He draped his arm around me, and for once I didn't snap at him for it. "Can we give this relationship a try, Enai? Like a human, not as wolves." Every impulse in my mind told me no, but I nodded slowly. He smiled, almost giddily, "Good." and leaned closer to me. I left the room worridly and entered the storage. I looked around until I found the stairwell leading to the wine cellar. I went down there and found white wine this time, keeping last time's experience fresh in my mind. I was devising a plan to hide it from Kinteera, but when I got up the stairs, Kinteera was standing there, hand out. I let out a low growl, "Kinteera, you know you can't control my drinking habits." I snarled. "Remember last time? How long did it to take you to reawake? Two days." He argued. He still held his hand out, like he was treating me like a little kid. I growled and pushed past him. Kyr entered the room, confused. I pulled a few glasses out of the cabinet and sat down by the bar. Kinteera wouldn't stop watching me the whole while. After I finished two glasses, he took the bottle and put it down in the cellar. He also padlocked the cellar door. I stumbled towards Kinteera and pinned him against the wall "Why the Hell did you do that!?" I bellowed. "So you'll learn to drink responsibly" He chided. I growled and punched him in the jaw immmediatlely. Kyr entered about that time to see me do that. Next thing I know, I feel his hands on my shoulders, dragging me to one of the rooms. He threw me in there and locked the door. "I'll let you out when you're sober." He explained. I growled and punched the door-which happened to be metal, like the whole house is-and pulled my fist away to see blood pouring out of several spots in my hand. I slumped down against the bed, waiting for the dented door to open
