The night after the photoshoot with Marshall I didn't know how to fall asleep.
I mean, nothing was really surprising about it thanks to everything that happened. I took part in the most dangerous scenario that could've ever existed for me and played in love with the man that rejected me, all of it right in front of the camera. Not only I had to overcome my anxiety and learn to pose but somehow also ignore the fact that Marshall was breathtakingly close and I could do nothing about it.
Jeff never prepared me for this, sending me to work, and I wondered if they would've asked Trevor for something like that if he had gone instead of me. That would be a sight to see.
But somehow, there was a lot more on my mind. Marshall Mathers actually did an attempt to apologize to me and no matter how cute it was, I had to keep my composure and not let him play with my feelings again. I still didn't know what he wanted and figured it would be best not to find out. After all, whatever thing was happening on the set between the two of us and his "sorry", I remembered the conversation near Denaun's house way too vividly to let it go and jump in his embrace.
Even if nothing happened between him and the girl in his office.
The next day was supposed to be all fun and chill. Royce invited us over to his crib, forcing Marshall to skip work and spend the day at his house, watching football, playing games, and eating. Lots of eating, to say the least.
And I can't say I really minded it.
The small party arranged by Royce had to be for a close circle. Denaun brought his girlfriend Ciara, Marshall had to come and of course, the rest of D12. That day I was supposed to meet Swifty, Kuniva, and Bizzare in all their glory which was promised to be really fun. I tried not to think too much about how I had to act around Marshall because to speak truthfully, now it all was his concern.
From now on, I was just an employee once again and hoped for avoiding further drama.
I arrived at Royce's place one of the first. Denaun was sitting on the couch next to Ciara, wrapping her with one of his arms and eating his favorite baby carrots with another one. They were pretty comfortable with each other in their new relationship and I was glad to observe that from the distance. After all, Denaun deserved to be happy.
Royce, on the other side, was all over the kitchen. The lady who cooked for him had an attitude but he would've never changed her due to her amazing Italian food skills. That is why he always had to argue with her loudly and when I came to the living room, there was no sign of Royce, just the shouting.
'Hey, Ella, what's up? You remember Ciara?'
Denaun greeted with a wide satisfied smile, pointing at the girl beside him, and I gave her a nod as if proving his words. The TV was already on, and some snacks were sprawled across the table. However, no other people were seemed to be in a rush.
'Of course, I do. Nice to see you again' I sat down on the couch with a small smile, reaching for Denaun's bag of baby carrots. The result was him looking at me with a surprised expression and a small frown. A child.
'Ciara is my girlfriend' Denaun grinned proudly as if we hadn't already known that information and wiggled his eyebrows smugly. It was surely a big deal for him, and Ciara giggled in response, kissing him on the cheek.
'Marshall said he'll be here soon too' he added with a mysterious smirk, making me suppressing the urge to roll my eyes. Despite the outcome of the whole situation with me and Marshall, he and Royce didn't seem to give up.
'Holy Tupac, she's just as beautiful as I imagined! Swift, hold me, I'm gonna pass out!'
Before I could give Denaun a wry or at least, decent answer, I heard the voice entering the room with a lot of shuffling and whispering right along with it. Turning my head, I had to face the image of Bizzare making a dramatic fake grimace as if he was about to faint and fall back. Swifty and Kuniva were looking at it with bored expressions right behind him.
