"It's so bizarre."
Mia speaks low and monotone while driving her car through the early morning. Rebecca is sitting in the passenger's side, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
"What's so bizarre?"
"Everything. Just-- I mean... Everything."
"Alright well what do you mean 'everything'? Is that like some philosophical shit? Like the world's gone mad? Life is bizarre? Your car is bizarre? The fucking roads? What?"
"This situation... Never in a million years would I have thought I'd do something like what I did last night--"
"You cleaned a fucking bath tub, get over yourself."
"There was a dead body, Becky, what the hell! The dead body of a girl I spent every single day of the last eight years with... That's--"
"--Fucked up, I know... I remember the first time I saw a dead body."
"First time? How many dead bodies have you seen?"
"Exact number, or guesstimate?"
"You can't be serious."
Rebecca raises her eyebrows at Mia with pressed lips. Mia glances at her and then looks at the road again.
"My God, you are serious... Okay... Have you ever actually killed anyone yourself?"
"Ha! You're too funny..."
"Is that a yes or a no?"
"Pick one. They're both true."
Mia continues to drive and shakes her head. Rebecca is looking at her with slightly raised eyebrows but half closed eyelids. Rebecca scoffs and looks away.
"You can drop me off here, I'll walk the rest of the way."
"It's a little far, don't you think?"
"It's alright. I have an hour to kill before class starts."
"Why don't we kill time over a cup of coffee?"
"Coffee?"
Moments later, they're at a diner, sitting accross each other at a table. Rebecca is not drinking anything and is just staring at Mia, who has a cup of hot coffee in her hands. She takes a quick sip before speaking to Rebecca is a whispering tone.
"I'm in deep shit with you people, Rebecca. I'm just trying to understand what the I'm dealing with. You have to admit, last night was bizarre!"
Rebecca leans forward and whispers in monotone as well.
"There's that word again... Okay look, what do you wanna know? Hmm? Did I kill someone? Yes I have killed before, and so have my parents, but all you really need to know is we wont kill again... Unless you fuck this up... Then we kinda have to."
Mia looks around, afraid to be heard.
"Killing is nothing to you, you just-- You really-- I mean you talk about it like it's nothing. That's someone's life! It's a serious crime. Even remorse or regret would show a bit of moral value but you talk like its jist the same as taking out the trash and--"
"Haa! Taking out the trash, I love it! You're awesome Mia, I'll have to use that one some time..."
Rebecca's interruption came unexpectedly loud. Mia tries to make things quiet again.
"Shhh! See? That's what I'm talking about, it's just so amusing to you that you don't even think of how serious it is. Do you even know it's a sin?"
