Favorite Auntie

Evie was bouncing her fussing, one year old daughter on her hip. Evie and Henry were going on a date and so they were waiting for Mal, who they had asked to babysit their daughter. Ember was fussing as she hadn't slept well that night, and wouldn't take a nap as she kept fighting sleep.

"It's okay, sweetie. You're okay." Evie said kissing the back of her little head.

Henry found his wife waiting by the door holding their daughter. "Mal still not here yet?" He asked. Evie shook her head as Ember continued to fuss. "Aww, is someone unhappy? Here, come see daddy."

Evie handed Ember to Henry who held out his arms. But still, Ember wouldn't stop. "Here, I've got something that might help." Evie said getting out a pacifier and gently putting it in Ember's mouth.

Ember immediately stopped fussing as she sucked on her pacifier. Both Evie and Henry sighed in relief when her fussing finally stopped. And in that moment, a knock was heard at the door. So Evie immediately went to open it, and she saw Mal, so obviously she let her in. "Oh M! I'm so glad you're here." Evie said.

"Eager to get out of the castle, I see." Mal said playfully.

"Yes, I need a little break and enjoy some alone time with my husband." Evie replied as Henry gave Ember to Mal. "Now you take care of my baby. Bye bye Ember! Mommy loves you, and I'll be back soon, sweetie."

"Don't worry Evie. I'll take care of the little vkvk." Mal told her making Evie look at her in confusion.

"Vkvk? What's that?"

"Villain kid's villain kid."

"She's not a villain." Evie informed her.

"It's just a cute little thing to call her." Mal replied as Evie rolled her eyes before blowing a kiss to Ember as she walked out the door. "Alright you little cutie, what do you wanna do?"

Ember just stared at Mal as she continued to suck on her pacifier. Mal just breathlessly giggled at the baby in her arms. "You look so much like your mommy when you stare at me like that." Mal joked before grabbing a bottle from the fridge as she could tell Ember was sleepy and ready for a nap.

So Mal walked over to the couch and sat down to feed Ember the bottle. And as she did so, she turned on the tv and watched another episode of "The Office" as she had gotten herself hooked to the show. By the time the episode ended she looked down at Ember to see she had fallen asleep. So she replaced the bottle with the pacifier and placed it in Ember's mouth.

Mal couldn't help but think that the baby was just so darn adorable! Ember looked so much like Evie and Henry. She had gotten Henry's hair, Evie's smile, Henry's nose and eyes, and Evie's laugh. Mal smiled softly at her before turning her attention back to the show she was watching.

And soon after she had watched quite a few more episodes of "The Office," Ember began to stir in Mal's arms before she woke up. "Hey! Look who's awake." Mal said lifting up the baby who smiled at her. "Someone woke up happy. Did you have a good nap?"

Ember started playing with Mal's hair as she was always so fascinated with it. But she just loved playing with anybody's hair, it was a baby thing. Mal put Ember down on her little play mat and sat down beside her on the floor and Mal just played with her a little. Ember was playing with her toys and yelling things in gibberish.

Mal laughed at the little girl. "You are just so cute!" Mal said. And as she continued to play with the baby, she didn't realize how much time had passed before Henry and Evie had come back. "Look Ember! It's your mommy!"

Ember smiled real big when she saw her mommy on her knees as she held out her arms to her. "Ember! Come here, baby! Come to mommy!" Evie said as Ember crawled over to her mother. Evie scooped her baby into her arms as she hugged onto her. "Oh mommy missed you so much! Did you have fun with Auntie Mal?"

"Oh yeah, we had lots of fun!" Mal told her. "I even got her to take a little nap."

"Thank you so much for that! I enjoyed being able go get away for a little bit. But I missed my baby!" Evie said kissing Ember's cheek. "But thank you so so much for watching her! I deeply appreciate it!"

"You are so welcome! This little cutie is always fun to watch." Mal said tickling the baby's foot. "Anyway, I gotta get going. I'll see ya later!"

Evie waved as Mal walked out the door, even waving Ember's little hand at her. Evie bounced her baby happily making Ember giggle at her. She loved her baby girl. And her baby girl loved her.
